To Whom it May Concern,
The intention of this letter is to draw attention to a serious issue involving your principal and the ongoing systematic physical and psychological abuse of adolescents in drug treatment programs which evolved directly from STRAIGHT, INC.
T. C. Williams Principal of the Year Dr. Mel Riddile was the director of the Springfield Virginia branch of STRAIGHT, INC. and trained the directors of other branches of that program in the early to mid 1980?s. Despite scores of suicides, complaints, lawsuits and other problems associated with this type of treatment, Dr. Riddile received awards and positive recognition from lawmakers, agencies and even the White House for his efforts involving that program.
Even though it has been a long time since Dr. Riddile has been involved in the drug treatment industry, this abuse has continued in programs with different names, but located in the same buildings or cities. In that time, concerned former clients of STRAIGHT, INC have made an effort to call for the end of this abuse once and for all. Dr. Riddile has declined to help. The goal of this demonstration is for you to urge Dr. Riddile to assist in the development of a strategy that will bring closure to this ongoing tragedy. The side effects of this treatment can last a lifetime.
