Yeah right. What sort of "business" decision? Whether or not to purchase a Slurpee from your local 7-Eleven? Why don't you ask an ex con how he felt about jail and if he felt it was a good learning experience! Asshole!

I can understand why you all would be suspicious about my motives here.  I encountered the same issues on the Hidden Lake Academy board; apparently HLA thinks nothing of suing anyone who says anything negative about the school, and former students/employees couldn't have known whether I was an HLA employee trying to get them to say something incriminating.  If you read through my posts over there and talk to Dysfunction Junction, however, you will see that I am serious about this.  I work with a company that is in a business relationship with Elan.

And name-calling and overall rudeness are really not helping matters.  If you have nothing productive to add, then I'd appreciate it if you would leave me alone.

Does anyone know if Elan has ever been the subject of litigation?  I haven't been able to find anything, aside from some tax liens they satisfied years ago.  Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

It was Joe Ricci's other business's that usually were under scrutiny.
It was rumored that he had mob ties. Nothing big but some small time stuff related to his track racing business. Gambling will not keep you honest for to long.

a few states started to go after them, but i think it was all swept under the table.illinios had issues with the  education side of things,the 1 thing elan excelled in was misdirection.no one ever got a clean look at it in my time, but i do recall visits from state reps.. shotdown were moved, g/ms  posponed, and threats of reprisal if anyone tred to make a stink. the reps were just as controled as the residents

I remember no clown make up on a day of state visits.I remember no GM's,Big time GI the whole house the day before,but house in the dining room while they where there. Afew selected kids were brought into an office and told what to say,and to speak ONLY when spoken too. What a scam. i wonder how many blank white envelopes were passed out in those days. I bet Sharon knows...

Can you please clarify a couple of things for me?  What is "shotdown" and what is "g/m?"

GM is a general meeting, where as a student is told to stand in front of his or her house and be confronted in a hostile way with verbal abuse from staff and residents.

Shotdown is the lowest position a resident can have. It is deemed a punishment and can last from 3-5 days, if the person who is shotdown does not better themselves during that time frame they can have their shotdown extended.
