Recent boot camp closings in Florida, combined with new findings regarding the Columbine incident of 1999, are disturbing. Today, more than ever, desperate parents are seeking alternatives for their troubled children. At this critical time in our society it is important for families to know there is help. However, it is imperative that parents do their research prior to residential placement. CAICA aims to educate parents about the tough love and mental health industries which can be both confusing yet necessary.

What's up with the "hot off the press" press release?  Like this is BREAKING NEWS, CAICA refers desperate parents to outfits like PURE and No Spank?

Fuck, why not just take out a billboard ad and put it up somewhere near St. George, Utah?

Promoting yourself again?  

How is the former owner of the program my daughter Michelle died in doing?  Does she have her own website now too?  Is she still referring children to programs for a fee?  Are you referring children to programs?  If so, what programs?  Do you receive a referral fee?  If so, how much PER CHILD, OR PROGRAM?  Is this something you would be willing to disclose in your Press Release?

I just returned from Girls Camp.  I was called to be Camp Director over 8 girls.  We had a great time.  Plenty to eat and drink.  In fact, they reminded us constantly to drink plenty of water.  Although we had ALL the water we wanted to drink, two girls did get a little dehydrated.  Common sense is to drink plenty of water when out in the sun doing any kind of activity.

I believe that because of my experience with my older children having gone to our Church Girls Camp that I was easily duped by the woman who 'sold' me the Summit Quest Program for my daughter Michelle.  Never in a million years would I have thought that people of my own faith would be involved in punitive, hitlarian programs.  These programs are completely opposite to what I just experienced at Girls Camp.  

I found pictures of Michelle and her sister Christina in the Zions Camp Scrapbooks of years past.  I think Michelle was easily duped as well because of her positive experience at our Church Girls Camp.

It's not necessary to be harsh and cruel to children in an effort to see change come about.  It's not necessary to lie to, kidnap, and send them away as if they were the sole problem within a troubled family.  

I want ALL readers to know that SOME so-called Mormons are deceived into believing that what they are doing is in the best interest of the child and his or her family.  They are playing God with Heavenly Father's Children.  It is Satan who believes in forcing a person to do the right thing, NOT God!  Whenever you think of the Mormons behind these types of programs, please know that these people of my same faith are troubled children themselves.

They don't tell us when they are going to repeat a program.  I didn't know about A & E until after the show aired.

I spent 6 days at Girls Camp.  There were days when I needed two showers, not just one.  Yeah, we had hot running water!

The girls and I still came away from the experience having learned a lot.

After Michelle died, I would wonder how it would be if Gayle Palmer and Steve Cartisano were to hike up and over the same mountain that Michelle and the others were forced to hike up and over?  Would they have survived?

Our Savior Jesus Christ does not ask anything of us that HE did not experience himself first.

Don't hear this as criticism. I have the deepest respect for you and your situation, but I don't think:

"Our Savior Jesus Christ does not ask anything of us that HE did not experience himself first."

is necessarily a good argument against what programs do or should do. Afterall, he was crucified. And for all intents and purposes, that appears to be what's happening in programs- children crucified for the 'sins' of their parents, society, staff.

I'm with you. I think parents and program owner's/staff should be marching step by step with the kids and subject to the same austere and abusive 'treatment' methods- limited calories, water, etc.

Last I checked Jesus's crucifixion killed him, it didnt exactly help him. He just came back becuase hes the son of god and all. But your kids dont come back, theyre dead and gone forever.

But at any rate trying to use ANY religion to justify a program is a good way to completely destroy your credibility, unless youre selling programs to people who just sign off on any dotted line, as long as some snake oil salesman says "its for jesus" :flame:

My point with the Jesus anaology was that HE does not ask anything of us that HE himself has not already experienced.

I think Isabelle and Sue should experience the product they are 'selling' to parents firsthand,  BEFORE SELLING IT!!

Christ suffered at the hands of HIS own people for greed.  My Michelle died at the hands of her own people for greed.  Through my experience in HOW Michelle died, I received my own personal witness of what our Savior Jesus Christ suffered.  

I know in my heart that HE would not approve of what is happening to children in these programs.

Please do not use the name of my Lord and Savior in vain.
