Does anyone know why the telephone and internet service at HLA is down?

Depends on their configuration.  If they're working off a T1 for phone and 'net, then they could both be down due to the T1 being down.

Or, maybe it's like their food service and garbage pickup and they just didn't pay the bill.

The ansewering service picks up every call and any keypad selection takes you to a departmental voice-mail.

Yes, with no difficulty at all.  I have received calls from HLA and made calls to HLA.  Emails have been back and forth as well.  The service problem is just that, and crews are working on the problems.

Then you might be the only lucky person who gets through.

If you did get through, as you claim to have, how do you know they've been having problems?

Specifially, how do you know that crews are working on service problems?  Have you seen the crews at work?

If so, you must be on campus, so why would I want you to use a telephone or e-mail to get in contact with HLA personnel?

I have received emails stating that crews are working on the lines.  We are updated regularly.  I have spoken to people when I needed to.  I don't call if I don't have a question.

And I am not on the campus.  I'm in a different city and state.  Why so aggressive in your tone?

The tone is due to the fact that it's not the first thing to go wrong at HLA.

Some of the individuals who work there are very professional and dedicted to what they do.  However, the overall operation of the school is deficient and mediocre to say the least.

We are talking about a school that charges $6,000 a month aren't we?

Georgetown Prep charges less than half that amount for its residential program.

Are you a parent with a child there?

Seems odd that a parent would receive an email notice about problems, and you wouldn't.

Per Len:

Alltel is low on the priority list when it comes to paying bills.  As are employee salary, landscaping, or any bill for that matter.

Bottom line, they don't have the money.

Email jpharris1993@hotmail.com for documented details.

One of the best ways to tell the current financial status at HLA is to look on the monthly calendar on the web site.  For example, for the month of July almost all trip that they are taking are free.  They are mainly going to parks.  Even their honor societies are only going to the movies, as opposed to concerts and Braves games like they did in the past.  When the money gets tight, the first thing Len does is cut the trips.  He puts a lot of pressure on his staff to find free things for the kids to do.
