The new readers may find it more informative to discuss issues pertaining to programs, though.  But your the admin here.

I'm a new reader and I'd like to discuss program issues:  can you name some good programs and identify the abusive ones for me?  Thank you Mr. Who!

hello, new guest, its nice to see you found this place.  Fornits can be a vast wealth of information for people who are new to the industry.  I would consider looking at ASR or the ASPEN web site for starters and try to stay away from places like Whitmore or Straight spin-offs.  You should first consider having your child evaluated locally.
If you have any other questions you can email me at:

Great!  So you guarantee no child has died or been harmed at ASR or any ASPEN school.  Is that correct?  My daughter is off to Aspen Achievement Academy based on your recommendation!    I hope no young girls have ever been sexually abused there.  Is there a way to let the people at AAA know you referred me Mr. Who?  You surely get paid for what you do for them.

Could you be more specific about the abusive programs?  "Places like" is a bit vague, and the two you mention are for all intents and purposes non-existent now.  Considering you're confidence in the safety of all ASPEN schools, you should be just as aware of the "bad" programs.

The survivors here don't hesitate to name the abusive programs.  Some of them are being sued for having the guts to speak out against programs.  What's your problem with naming the dangerous programs, Mr. Who?  You should feel morally obligated to make the public aware of the abusive places.

Yes, they have a very impressive record.  They surveyed every child that ever graduated from an Aspen school and not one died during their stay there.

I wish you had contacted me before she left.  If you mention “Thewho” to your escort driver you get 100 bonus Aspen points and I get 2,000.  Once the girl is enrolled I get 5,000 Apsen points.  You should try to hold on to them, you will be receiving them over the course of her stay.  Example:  For every parent visit where there isn’t any confrontation with staff or direct questions asked you get 1,000 Aspen points etc.  You will receive a brochure in the mail telling you how you can redeem your points.

I am shooting for a Dinner with Mitt Romney which is worth 50,000 Aspen points.  Good luck.

New guest:  the Who is lying to you!  Do NOT send your child to Aspen Achievement Center!

Nice going, Who.  How dare you make referrals on Fornits?  You deceived a parent who was looking for information.

New guest:  PLEASE READ!  Be aware the unscrupulous industry people like the who will deceive you in order to get your child into their program.

MOTHER SUES, ACCUSES EX-WILDERNESS THERAPIST OF ABUSING DAUGHTER

Chris Jorgensen

Salt Lake Tribune

December 5, 1991

For $15,000, the Orem-based Aspen Achievement Academy promises to turn around wayward lives in 56 days.

A California mother who took up the popular wilderness-therapy program on its promise claims her 14-year-old daughter was sexually assaulted repeatedly by a female Aspen counselor.

When confronted by academy officials about the assaults, the counselor allegedly admitted sodomizing the girl and was fired.

One of the assaults came on the October night of the girl's graduation from the program and was witnessed by the mother, claims the family's attorney, who filed a $2.3 million lawsuit Wednesday in 3rd District Court.

Aspen administrator Doug Nelson refused to discuss the allegations.

"The kids sent to these programs have all kinds of problems going in. What could something like this do to a child that already has problems?" attorney Charles Thronson said.

The academy was negligent in not supervising the counselor more closely and should have known better than to hire her in the first place, the attorney claims.

Therapists in Utah cannot have a criminal record. Before any therapist is hired, a background check is mandatory.

In Wayne County, where Aspen Achievement operates, Sheriff Leon Brinkerhoff routinely performs the background check on the academy's prospective employees.

"I normally run all the backgrounds. Aspen insists on it," the sheriff said. "But I've never received any information on this woman and she wasn't checked by me."

The sheriff first heard of the sodomy allegations in a November letter from Aspen stating the matter was being handled by state social-service officials and there would be no criminal investigation.

There is some question if the girl was 13 years old at the time of the alleged assaults, or 14, which in Utah is the age of consent, said Ken Stettler, licensing specialist with the Utah Department of Human Services.

Aspen acted properly in firing the counselor and the program won't be affected by the allegations, he said.

"As soon as Aspen was made aware of what happened, they fired her on the spot," said Mr. Stettler. "Any state investigation wouldn't have been working toward that end anyway."

Thanks aghast,  Actually the article you posted was one of the reasons we chose an Aspen school.  If you notice the date of the article was 1991 and as soon as Aspen found out about the problem they fired the girl on the spot (see the last few lines of the article).  I like a school that doesn’t tolerate abusive staff and has a couple decades of experience.  If that happened in your typical local public school the teacher would hang around forever trying to sue the school system claiming tenure or move to a different school system etc.  Aspen doesn’t allow that.

To thewho: I called the Academy and they are allowing me to get the bonus points for the escort and I receive 10 bonus points for every day I don’t call the school and 1,000 bonus points if I pay for the whole year in advance.  This is great!!  I am saving for the Aspen “GPS promise ring” for my daughter.

Your welcome, New Guest,  sorry for that outburst but I think thewho is an asshole who refuses to name a good program but it does seem that AAA was a good fit for your daughter so it was a good suggestion on his part.  After I followed up on that article I have to admit that thewho was right and I have never been a fan of the public school system either, but there will never come the day that I like him.  Good luck with you and your daughter.

I didn't write that!  This who person is not balanced! I would never send my child to a place where a crime like that occurred.  Seventeen years ago or a hundred years ago!

TheWho your back.  Yeah, I am switching to New GuestII I think someone liked my name and took it over.  half of that stuff wasn’t even me.  This is a weird  forum it has lots of energy, angry people too.  I am going to try to log in but after reading I have to agree to this:  “ You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material ....”
Does this mean that if you are not logged in you can post hateful and abusive etc.  posts? Not that I want to do any of it but from reading here it seems most of the hate comes from people who are not logged in.
