I am alive.

There is a demand for programmies on this forum. When they post they get more attention than anyone. A program survivor posts a five page long, heartfelt story about their experience, it drops off the front page in two days.

In contrast, a crazed parent posts about considering program, and it gets 100 posts the first day. A parent who actually sent their kid away posts, and the place goes nuts.

Easy to explain.

The survivor stories are generally uncommentable because what the hell can you say? There is nothing that can do it justice. Any variant of "that must have been horrible" comes off as retarded, "we're going to shut that place down" smacks of arrogance (unless Fornits members really are shutting that place down), and anything else isn't exactly welcome.

The parent who is considering one of these hellholes needs to be addressed immediately, to prevent them sending his or her kid. Doesn't matter how stupid the parent in question happens to be, from simply unknowing to genuinely demented.

And most of us Organized Malcontents love making verbal soup of retarded programmies. It's fun and subconsciously rewarding.

I disagree; I think he believes shutting down HLA will help the kids, but I believe the drive is personal. I personally dont think it is time well spent in the larger picture.

Again you assume. Where was your asterisk this time Cindy?

That?s a good point, Bob.  The rule I usually use is if we are working inside of a table format with numbers I don?t encourage anyone to try to explain any anomalies or clarify the data right there in the table.  It takes away from the presentation quality and makes it hard to decipher sometimes.  Its okay to do, you just need to be careful you don?t redirect the focus away from what you are trying to say with the data.  So that being said, I suggest using the asterisk when elaborating in tables and not using them in straight dialog.
For example, If I say ? I am assuming you checked with your boss first before leaving early?.  There is no need for an asterisk to explain your assumption.

Hope that helps

I'm thinking about it, there are some great slopes near me, and I do love spending time with him. As far as me being right all the time or always winning, I don't care about either. I can handle being wrong or losing. Neither signals the end of the world. In this instance however I'm right and he's wrong. I take issue with him spewing off his bullshit and pretending its a fact, plus I find him hilarious. Until he quits or dies I'm just going to keep going in circles with him, proving him wrong at every turn. Believe me he's going to give up sooner than you think.

Bob, classic post?.this is going into my top 10?. ?I don?t care about being right or wrong?? but in this instance however I'm right??Bob don?t ever go away.  Helping kids may not be one of your strengths but posting inspirational prose here on fornits definitely suits you (and all of us), I think you found your niche.

Oh don't worry Cindy, like I said so long as you or idiots like you remain here spewing off your propoganda and hoping people are stupid enough to buy into it, I'm here to stay.

As to my comments yes it's true I am willing to put aside my own interests for the sake of proving you wrong. It's a sacrifice I know, but one I'm willing to make.

I'm glad you take my posts to heart, if we could just cut through your cloud of delusion we'd really be getting somewhere. You do however bring up an interesting point. You claim my helping kids isnt one of my strengths, yet I've already proven that I have in fact helped these kids, in a very real and direct way, much more than you ever have or ever could do. I know that reading comprehension isnt one of your strengths, but that aside I'm curious; What have you done to help these kids?

Get back to me on that Cindy. Oh and I'm still waiting on you to post the link to my stating that Candace Newmaker was in a TBS. See if you can't handle that.

I think this is the best way to help parents and kids.

Just one more to add to the list of kids saved by PREVENTING their placement at a BM warehouse...

A formerly distressed, nearly conned parent said:

Steve -
First, please allow me to thank you for you prompt response. I have been so pleasantly surprised at the number of people who have written me.  There are truly angels among us....

The therapists at my son's rehab facility (Sundown Ranch) in Canton, TX are recommending a TBS very strongly.  Their first rec has been DA.  My gut has been telling me this is not good.  My former husband is really pushing to follow their recommendation.  This is all very strange as he is an attorney and questions everything.  He has gone so far as to threaten legal action to comply with the recommendations from the Sundwon Ranch counselors.

My son has indicated quite strongly that he does not want to go to a TBS.  The word on the street at his rehab facility is much what I have read when you get past the glossy websites.  He also feels that he cannot return home due to triggers he feels will be present around our nieghborhood.  Whether this has been instilled at him during his tenure at Sundown or whether he truly believes it is a question I cannot answer.

To that end, I am investigating a small Benedictine boarding school about 80 miles from my home.  The community is rich with resources that I think would be beneficial to his continued recovery.  In addition, he can visit with some degree of regularity his local therapist whom he adores.  And, he would be close enough to see his family.

So that is my plan to date.  Please let me know what you think and where there are holes.

Thank you in advance for your assistance and concern with this.  I greatly appreciate it....

Best,
*******

See, Who, you're so God-awful ignorant about what I and others do that you would have people believe we do no good, "add no value" and "don't help kids."  It is only your ignorance and arrogance that generate statements like this.

Chalk up one more for the good guys...

Thanks to everyone else for helping this wonderful but confused and anxiety-ridden parent.  After speaking with her by telephone today she related to me that she is "disgusted" by the information she has found while researching the TBS industry and will do "whatever (she) can to help you all go after these people who prey on us and our children."

Not only is her kid spared horrible abuse, but we now have another dedicated, resourceful person to help us bring an end to institutionalized child abuse.

So youre saying its okay to assume sometimes, but not if it interfers with your agenda. I understand your position perfectly Cindy, thank you.

Yes Cindy you've posted that link once before remember?

I'm looking for you to post a comment I made that states that Candance Newmaker was in a TBS. The comment you keep refering to is me listing her as a death within the PTS.

Do you understand now?

Oh no Cindy I got what you were trying to say, it's a message you've stuck with since the moment you arrived. Your philosphy being standards should only apply when they work in your favor, never against you. My reading comprehension skills are fantastic Cindy, if you need help though there's no shame in asking for it.

As to the guys you have working for you having trouble, that's what happens when you employ illegal aliens Cindy. Perhaps you should try hiring some Americans the next time, not only will you not have that pesky INS (another form of regulation that Cindy believes unnessecary as it creates too much "paperwork") bothering you, but your employees are much more likely to speak English. Then other than when you spout off your paraniod delusions or ridiculus assertions, everyone will understand you!  :D

Yes I do:  I keep some of my old messages too

Some feedback I have received:

Thewho, thank you for leading me to ASR a few months back.  My son was really out of control and is doing much better now.  Our relationship has started to turn the corner and is getting better??.

TheWho, I didnt expect to get that type of advice on fornits?.  I was lucky to see your posts?just wanted to say thanks from myself and my family.

Who, hang in there?.if it wasn?t for you we would have put our kid back into public school and who knows where she would be today?.thanks again for the advice.
