So for the 2001-2002 school year we have the following data regarding deaths in the public school/sector versus those in the private theraputic sector:

Out of 52,000,000 kids in the public sector 17 were killed while in school.

Translating to:

1 out of every 3,058,824 kids being murdered while in school

Out of those same 52,000,000 kids in the public sector 5 committed suicide while in school.

Translating to:

1 out of every 10,400,000 kids killing themselves while in public school.

Of those same 52,000,000 2,036 were killed in the public sector.

Translating to:

1 out of every 25540 kids being killed

Of those same 52,000,000 kids 1,772 kids committed suicide.

Translating to

1 out of every 29345 kids in the public sector killing themselves

In the private theraputic sector out of 20,000 kids 2 were murdered by staff members.

Translating to:

1 out of every 10,000 kids being murdered by staff members.

Of those same 20,000 kids in the private theraputic sector 1 committed suicide.

Translating to:

1 out of every 20,000 kids killing themselves.

At least its an improvement over the previous years I guess.  :-?

Well, I PM?d several people here on fornits and eventually we formed a ?Statistical group? and decided to meet at the Hyatt in Chicago about a month ago.  We spent 3 days hammering out a direction and figured we would tackle the TBS sector first.  We felt you were well respected here at fornits and had your hands around the other areas and were doing fine independently.  Your name was brought up several times so you were not forgotten or left out.

At this point Im not sure if hes joking or if he really is crazy. I'm leaning towards the later.

Sounds great. I've added yours to the fornits joke collection. Remind me to tell you the one about the frayed knot, its hysterical.

So then, ready to move onto the next year?

Like I said Bob, your numbers are great but we are talking about 2 different data sets and 2 different sets of parameters.  I have taken your data and pasted it into my database and we reviewed it.  It is valuable information and will be used in some limited capacity when we expand the data set to include other areas like "Wilderness"  "boot camp", "hospitals" etc.  so your work hasnt been for nothing...thanks

Wait one minute...  I think missed something while i was ignoring the first 80 some pages... what is your "research" for.  Who is "we".  What are you "collecting" this data for?

I have a few more names to go thru.....  I will be starting 2002 -- 2003.  If you could, focus on all deaths and also homicide and suicide data outside of the TBS area and I will gather the TBS data....so we dont duplicate the effort.  You are really pulling your weight so far, Bob.  Proud of you!!!  Let me know when you are done so I can add it to the main database.

Cindy claims to have gone to a secret meeting with several high ranking officals from fornits. He claims they all met at the Hyatt in Chicago last month.

I still havent decided if he's joking or if he's certifiable.

We are collecting data of the number of Homicides and suicides in the US for kids ages 5 thru 18, year to year inside and outside of TBS's.  As soon as we can get the data up to date we will look at "Wilderness" data with the same parameters, then boot camps etc..  This is just the data collection phase.  We are hoping at some point to be able to look at the differences between the public and private sector in these categories, maybe look at trends in the industry.

"We" are interested parents, people here on fornits etc.

Oh no no no Cindy, you claimed there was a "long debate" and that it was decided that "we" were only going to look at TBS's as you define them.

Who specifically is "we"?

I entertain possabilities ... i can't help it.. they run through my head.. and sometimes things fit together...

Ok.. a paranoid conspiracy theory just ran through my head:

If you are telling the truth:

Why would you possably meet up with "high ranking officials" from fornits in Chicago...

Purpose?  Why would you want to be collecting this data... and why from fornits?

Could you be considering going into the consluting business?  and if so... would the data be used in a manner such as: "well hey: we collected this data from anti-program advocates... and it says it's not that bad!"  Is there a marketing angle to the data?

In which case i wonder... if you met with anybody else from fornits, who might they be... hhm..  three letters and a certain name starting with K come to mind...
