True, but its worse with AA being involved. Here's one example. My ex was convicted of DUI manslaughter, sentenced to 15 years but only served 2. Violated 3 times and was sent back for an additional 2. He was in and out of AA during that time. When he got out the last time he decided that I shouldn't drink either. Took me to court and even though he had actually killed someone, violated repeatedly and was sent back to prison HE was awarded custody simply for the fact that he was in AA[/b]. I had no record, no arrests...nothing. Because he and I were both in a treatment center when we were teens and he accused (and it was only an accusation) me of being an alcoholic, that automatically biased the judge and because the ex was in AA and I rejected it, I lost. Thank god only for a couple of weeks though. The ex soon re-violated and was sent back yet again. The judge decided then that I was fit enough to have them. Despite the fact that the ex's parents (at the suggestion of the ex's AA sponsor) continued the fight asking for them to be awarded custody.
