Well you should try. And if you Must post this kind of stuff, why can't you keep it on the open forum or Let it Bleed, where the subject matter is truly anything and everything.

You really shouldn't degrade the dialog on the teen help industry forums. This is not just taking jabs at me or my son, or the Fornits community at large; it is debasing the discussion of a very important topic - The abuse and neglect that takes place in "Teen Help" programs.

There is always the hope that a parent looking for answers may find Fornits and learn some true and useful information. But when they run across this kind of ideosity they are far more likely to leave and never come back - and to place their child ASAP in the hopes they can help them avoid turning out like this bunch.

I haven't seen Ginger posting much lately - but Ginger - if your reading this - maybe you would consider an alternative to censorship that would still help keep the more serious forums free of this kind of thing?

I read a forum that has a sub topic forum called Rabble Babble; and another called the Twilight Zone. Threads like this would be sent to Rabble Babble - where the parties involved can continue to carry on - but where it won't taint the quality of  the more serious forums.

The Twilight Zone seems devoted to Wild Eyed Conspiracy Theory threads - but anyway - I thought you might consider something like that. It would enable you to maintain your no censorship ethics - and yet would protect the integrity of the Teen industry issue forums.

Well said.  This forum has become (sadly) one part good information and nine parts bullshit.

I don't support censorship.  Perhaps, though, if everyone was a registered user it would cut out some of the ridiculous, juvenile rantings.   ::argue::

Again, there are stories and experiences that need to be heard.  But, not everyone desires or has the fortitude to put the waders on to find those valuable stories/information.

In theory that's a wonderful idea, but it involves a lot of work. Who is going to read every thread of every unmoderated forum and delete message such as

"Ever pound your pecker into a glassful of raw ground beef?"

which are a waste of people's time and Ginger's bandwidth. The idea of successfully banning such members is about as sane as thinking their going to plug all the leaks in the Tx/Mexico boarder to keep 'illegal immigrants' out. They would simply get a new IP and carry on.

The most successful thing to do is to completely ignore it. That too is not going to happen. Someone will have to tell them how fucked up they are or try to top their comment.

One thing I've noticed, is that when a new parent arrives and requests specific information, there are usually two or three responses, sometimes with links.

The world can be messy. And sometimes there isn't an easy solution, that meets everyone's needs.

There seems to have been a coordinated attack of vulgarity and bullshit recently. I would not be surprised if it was actually someone who endorsed censorship posting these things, in an attempt to convince others of the need of censorship.

A pro-censor troll? I doubt it. My thoughts are it is someone from the programs wanting to devalue this forum. Someone from WWASP or Thayer or Whitmore possibly.

But it is probably just someone who gets their kicks being vulgar - and not giving much thought to the over all effect. If thats the case maybe they can be reasoned with.

As for who spends the time reading every thread, what you do is, implement a report this post option - that goes to a moderator - who then reads it and decides of it needs to be moved. Of corse that can also be abused - but then you could ban the fool abusing it.

Speaking of banning. Sure, people can go from IP to IP, but it takes effort. The effort may take away some of the fun - and so then maybe they'd go away.

This seems to work on this other forum I spoke of.

Yes the goof balls return with new names and new IPs - but they soon get banned again - and they then seem to get tired of the game.

I'm not, and would never, suggest banning anyone just for being controversial, or argumenitive - not on a forum like this - but the kind of thing going on here? Serves no productive purpose at all, and in fact, is quite destructive.

Something to think about. The structure of fornits has obviously played a roll in its popularity amongst people wrapped up in this industry. Now, because it is so popular, people are suggestion that it's concept and structure be altered. Seems like a recipe for disaster to me. Sure the posts are annoying, but that is what makes fornits fornits. Struggling Trolls is a great example of a controlled forum. Say the wrong thing and your post gets deleted and you get banned. Posting in that environment is a waste of time, because you know the moderators with agendas will structure the forum to suit their views. Is that really what we want?

"Speaking of banning. Sure, people can go from IP to IP, but it takes effort."

This thing about the IP address is confusing the Ant. When I lived in NJ I had a static IP address and thus anyone could identify my router as being the source of a post. My IP address did not change for seven years.

Now I have an ISP that assigns a new IP address to my router each time my router is disconnected and reconnected to the ISP's network. I understand that each ISP has a range of IP addresses assigned to them, but that would only allow you to identify my ISP, not me. If I did not have a router, the ISP would assign a new IP address to my PC at each login.

Also the ISP assigns the IP address to my router, not each PC behind the router. The router assigns an IP address to each machine, but the Internet does not see these IP addresses. Although it would not matter for identification purposes which specific PC in my home I am using, it does matter if the router belongs to a company. Then there is no way to identify the specific employee, only the company.

Thus, I don't understand how people here can identify individuals based on their IP address, especially if they use dial-up, or only have one PC which they log in and out of daily.

This sort of remark smacks of self-importance; and you couldn't be more wrong. I am actually against these institutions that claim to "help" teens. Don't ask me why I like to troll this forum...guess it's just fun because it seems to create such an uproar (not to mention the inane speculative comments) when I do it. Hey, what can I say? I just like trolling!

Fine, but can't you keep it in the Elan forum then?  You and Art can go at it all you like over there.
