Elan should have been held responsible. This child was left in their charge. Wonder how much $$$ they (elan) sent her parents to keep them quiet,or not to sue them. I read that article some time agao and then again this morning.Still makes me physically ill.
Maybe Dawn would not have run away if she were treated and not abused. Perhaps if compassion were part of their treatment plan,or even humane treatment of teens with emotional problems,this girl would be raising her own family. In addition to their blatant thievery of monies,they have robbed a young girl and her family of a future.
To this day,and its a long time for me,Elan makes me sick...

Dawn ran away once before w/mandy gray.They came back.The 2nd time she ran away it was when she was murdered.

I cans ee it now, Kruglik getting the call from the state police about the incident and Krugliks reaction: Hi yuh yuh yuh, me suh need to cover my tracks, hi yuh yuh yuh,me suh need to lie and say elan is in Bangor not Portland, hi yuh yuh yuh, I can afford to loose my job. Hi yuh yuh yuh,. we suh not shall be held responsible, hi yuh yuh yuh  me suh order more sundries on the Birbuam account, hi yuh yuh , hi yuh yuh yuh.

Funny thing, in the article in says Bangor Maine, wonder if that was Krugliks idea of a misdirection to keep elan out of the media?

I knew Dawn and I was also on the trip when she split. Elan shouldn't have been resposible...Dawn was a great girl-really cool and funny, but she split as RE-ENTRY. If she could have held on a few more months this wouldn't have happened. No one deserves that to happen to them, but was her spliting necessity or just plain rash?

Tania M left Elan- she doesn't work there anymore. I think that it got to be too much for her- everything. I can't blame her, I don't know how anyone would be able to work there and then go home at night and be able to feel normal.

Do you think she ran away because she was so comfortable? Maybe she ate an extra snack and some new resident reported her. Maybe she was tired of living in fear. Maybe someone was abusing her other than the normal insane way Elan cared for children. She was in their charge.When was in re-entry,splitting wasnt on my mind. Ther was and IS more to this story than we will ever know.
