Another girl I know was at the trial also. She told me a intense story about a clock. How the prosecutor set up a clock that had the amount of time on it that it took her to pass away. So as the clock was ticking away people were told to imagine these were the last minutes in her life. How she felt, what was going thru her mind, was she in physical pain, ect. It also signified that James Cruz had that amount of time to stop what he was doing to her, release the rope and let her live. Then when the alarm rang on the clock it meant she was officially gone. My friend told me everyone was crying. She said it was very intense. You could feel the emoition in the room. Even the judge needed a moment to compose himself. The clock incident really struck a chord in alot of people. Jury included.
Obviously. They convicted the asshole. What ever happened to the death penalty?! A good ol fashion hanging is what he deserves.

The trial was for the asshole that killed Dawn. James Cruz. Google him. Parts of the story are told. "Readers Digest" had an incredible story back in 94 about her. They did a nice job.
A friend I used to have in Indiana had all kinds of stuff about Dawn and the trial and other things related to the case. She even had a pic of Dawn after she passed on. Not a crime scene pic. This girl was close to Dawns mom.

I am not going to say anything mean on yhis thread because it is for Dawn only and the memoreys we have of her.It may be a decade for some but others (as in friends) would like to talk about her and remember all of the good times with her,and people can ask                    about what really happened to her,for one I have alot of info on this subject because I was there for the whole trial,so if I spell a few wourds wrong who cares this is a thread for people who want to talk about dawn and remeber dawn
                  thank you

Regarding dawns trial: Was this a trial for the asshole that killed her I take it? What exactly was Rosenburgs testimonal about? What did you have to testify about? Where you still in Elan when you had to testify? I would like to hear more of your story.

I only hope that Jimbo can find the common sense to stop hi-jacking this thread.

Ironic thing is that by you making the comment about the thread being hijacked will cause Jimbo to come right back and verbally retaliate.
Why can't ONE thread be left alone?

Marc lied and said he never knew that Dawn was going to take off when he did in fact know,I know he knew because I was put in the corner right after, any ways the clock thing was so heart wrenching it made the hair on my neck standup and Cruze just looked at that clock with a nasty littel smerk on his ugly fat face.He did not get the death pentely because the jury thought he would suffer even more in jail for the rest of his life,Cruzes made a statement he would rather be dead so now he lives behind bars for the rest of his life, but other states are looking into Cruze for other murders.I was not in elan when the trial started I was on my own I flew out to Penn for the trial,Marty tried to get me to stay till the trial started and ended but that ment I would have to go with marc and I hated that man. :flame:

How did anyone know you were supposed to split with Dawn?
Do you know how you 2 were discovered missing?
How did you 2 leave and where did you leave from?
Where did you 2 go?
Where did you meet up with Cruz at?
What did he say to you or Dawn?
What did Dawn say when you decided to leave?
How did Cruz get her in the back of his cab?
The truck had to of been stopped and parked.
I guess no one will ever know how it happened.
I wonder why she never got a "feeling" from Cruz
and hauled ass.
I wonder if he dragged her to the back or if she was already back there sleeping.
Did Cruz speak in court? What did he say?
What questions were you asked?
Where did you go after you left Dawn?
Did you leave her in the truck with Cruz or somewhere else?

She has hitched rides with truckers before. This time she had to meet that killer. It breaks my heart!
I saw on tv that he was being investigated in other states. I guess they found some girls who passed away. The same M.O.
Why did he leave her on the side of the highway like that?
He could of atleast put her pants back on her. She deserved dignity.
I know she fought him physically. She had to of. He was a big fat bruiser though.
To think he has a wife and kids!
His wife was all crying and insisting he was a good man and he was innocent. Poor lady. Poor kids.
Its horrible!
God bless everyone....

Thank you My little Secret....That is really a sad story  ::mecry::  ::mecry:: ...I wish she would of listened to you...When people are desperate they take these incredible risks that ordinarily they would never ever consider...Imagine if she slept upright in the front seat? She could of jumped out of a moving truck if need be. I'd rather get massive road/gravel burn and break something that the alternative...My God...I used to wish that she was unconscious during most of it...In a way it was good you told asap. Its a shame they did not put out an APB on her and the truck then and there...How far could it have really gotten?...Marc's #1 mistake was allowing the trip to finish. That act alone wasted valuable time. Time in which she could of been found. MORON...Were you able to give any kind of description of him or the truck? Or did it happen so fast you did not even focus on it?...
I wonder why he did not get a new asshole ripped into him for allowing the trip to continue. You would think they would of sent an "authority figure" down there so fast your head would spin...I would of hoped they asked that at the trial. Did they ask why he allowed so much time to go by without the Police talking to you?...Marc that damned dope fiend should of been fired and had a civil suite against him by the family....THIS story alone would convince me not to send my vulnerable child to Elan...I imagine if my 7 year old daughter Elise ended up in a hell hole like Elan...I shudder to think...Then again I would NEVER allow the state to get control of her and coerce her into going and coerce me into sending her. The state scared my dad somethin terrible. They LIED their monkey asses off about the "wonders" Of Elan. He and I never knew what hit us!...There has got to be a better way to deal with children like we were...Isn't there?...I hope so. After all if science is true our little ones may inherit our "deviant" genes...LOL...Bless you...Bye... ::rainbow::

What was dawns position in the ouse at the time? I take it you were of a higher position then her? Did Marc have you placed in the corner because you didnt try to physically stop her? What did Marc and Marty say on the stand? Marty also went to court right?

Dawn was either a high coordinator (full?) or re-entery. She was THIS close to graduating.

Why didn't Marc get his ass chewed out for allowing the trip to continue?

HE let all that time pass. They could of been stopped long before the tragedy.

I too am glad, but its like inviting the enevitable..
I too am saddened by what has happened to Dawn. But reliving this story every day cant be healthy.Every time I read it,it only causes anger and sadness at both this Cruz dude, and at Elan. Elan is ultimately responsible. I wouldnt concern yourself with the friendly folks at Elan. They will burn in hell when the time comes.I've never been more certain of anything before.
But more importantly,we can all se ethe pain and suffering this has caused you. it appears as though you are still in pain. Plz be nice to yourself. You are a testiment to god grace.Reagrdless of what you read here. There are some people who are real and that care.
Bless you

Of course no one would come onto this thread and inject it with poison.
Like I told you before its a sweet thing your doing here with a little memorial.
People who were not in the know obviously have questions.
Whenever you do not want to answer any more questions just say so. You will be respected. As you have been since the start of this thread.
If you feel like your reliving the tragedy here in this thread as someone else suggested then please stop the thread. No one wants you to be in pain.
Once again, Thank You and I appreciate your effort. I like you knew her and was friends with her. We laughed alot together. Had some serious talks. Went on a shopping trip together where we picked out matching shirts. God that was sooooooo long ago! :)  Fondly remembered.
Bless you girl. Peace, love, happiness.....
