I work as a nurse at one crazy university hospital on a very busy floor. Too many times, by the end of a 12-and-a-half hour shift, I am delirious. Seriously strung-out delirious, and when I leave, my thoughts are racing, lots of times I laugh out loud thinking of the events of the night.
I have a prescription for xanax, to help with my sleep schedule. Recently, rather than waiting until I get home to take it, I take it (a small dose) before I leave the hospital.
It works quickly, and the change is tremendous. It does exactly what it is sopposed to do- calm me enough so that I can drive home and arrive and shower and go to bed in peace, without being plagued by the chaos of my job. THANK YOU, XANAX!
In conclusion, I have found xanax to be a safe, effective medication. And since I don't sit around popping them at home just for the hell of it (well, not usually, anyway), and possibly also because I don't feel the need to increase my dose, I have not found it to be addicting.
