Formalizing Takedown Procedures
« on: April 08, 2006, 03:51:00 PM »
No, I'm not talking about guards taking down kids.

I'm talking about Fornits members and real psychologists creating procedures to take these programs out. Emails to governments, complaints registered with boards of education, et cetera.

Seems to me we should develop a process for this kind of thing. What works? What doesn't? Does it really take fatalities to get this places shut down?

Please ignore any and all troll posts in this thread. Let's stick to taking them down and avoid the rampant ignorument that's taken over practically every other thread.

This is by far the important topic on this board, and nobody pays any God damn attention to it. Fuckers.

Looks like it's gonna have to be up to us.

"creating procedures to take these programs out .. Emails to governments, complaints registered with boards of education, et cetera."

If some, even one of the programs that fall in the general category addressing teen behavior is good, effective, and has real value, why end it?  At the same time, there are one or more programs that are chronic abusers, inconsiderate of anything but their own wallets.  The better approach, it seems to me, is to target the very worst, one way or the other building up a "dossier" and perhaps going to a regional newspaper with real proof, as well as legislators, etc.  Sure, it sounds nice to go after the "whole bunch", but yall been doin that for a bit already.  You really need facts, more than somebody else's claim of something.

Oh yeah ... Loose Screw's language won't help the case either.

So many WWASP programs HAVE BEEN PROVEN ABUSIVE and consequently closed!  Of course people should go after the whole bunch, WWASP related or not.  ISAC has the full list of WWASP facilities closed due to confirmed abuse, go here for details:

http://www.isaccorp.org/archives.html

The list includes Brightway Adolescent Hospital, Dundee Ranch, Bethel Boys Academy, Sunrise Beach, Paradise Cove, Bethel Girls Academy, Eagle Point Christian Academy, and AIR has already been sued and forced to refund parents since they were falsely operating as a credentialed school, issuing invalid diplomas.

Why on earth did someone say that if just one program is good then we should leave it open???  Just because nobody's been able to prove it?  Look at the track record over the past decade and decide if we can afford to let any programs exist.

I personally have offered my testimonial to several organizations, but because I was there in the early 90's, I am always told that they will take my statement but that they need to speak to more recent graduates.  Their rational is that the owners have changed hands (to family members of course) with new policies and procedures enacted, so my experience doesn't provide real evidence as to what today's teens are being subjected to.  ISAC was the most proactive in using the information I provided.

I see a lot of people "wah wah wah" on these forums and others but very few people doing anything subtantial to change the situation.

Couldn't be further from the truth, many people are doing many things to do something about abusive programs, and have been doing so for years upon years. Go read more and get back to us, nobody is going to do the research and work for you.

Lichfield et al are willing to push their point with the better part of a million dollars worth of donations to republican candidates, what have we got to oppose them with?

First you might want to decide what you need the money for.
