The Lack Of Medical Accomodations
« on: March 08, 2006, 03:05:00 PM »
When I first got to Straight I had been locked up in jail for about 2 months awaiting trial...I was sick with pneumonia, having to sleep on the floor of my first host home ( hacking and coughing & running a fever of about 102 and not able to dry my hair after I took a shower) and finally I got to see a doctor on my 3rd or 4th day because my host mom raising hell about me being sick and not being able to give me anything, or at least they said he was a doctor and I got some type of anti-biotics. My first days were spent in a timeout room that had a hospital bed in it...I was ok with that, however the guy they had guarding the door wanted to keep the door open so he could motivate and get called on ( real ass-kisser ) so needless to say I was unconfortable...On about my 3rd day of this all the sudden I had 2 other newcomers claiming to be sick and staff stuck them in the same room with me ( Imagine 3 people in a hospital bed )...Then as the week went on there were more...Today I am so grateful for this experience....NOT...At least if I had chosen to go to jail or prison for my crime I would have known when I was getting out and would have gotten adequate medical care.

I will never forget or forgive Criss Cassler for giving me Asorbine Jounior for jock itch. When I applied it, I literally fell against the bathroom stall's wall and colapsed

In my time, a influnza, stomach virus as I recall. There were about 20 people behind the group vomiting into 5 gallon buckets. This went on for about 10 days two weeks. 12 hours a day...disgusting. The stench of bile wafting thru and mixing with alll the other odors in the sweltering, 98 degree heat.

In thinking back...I never saw a doctor, ever or a even a nurse...shit, the reality was that I was lucky to get half pint of fucking water a day...aside from the iced milk or rotting orange juice from tropicana.

Holy shit batman!  I remember the jock itch days in the Morgan Yacht building.  It was so dang hot in that building and the AC was rarely used.  I think sometimes fo ropen meeting, but really never that I can remember for the kids comfort.  I was hot and sweaty all the time.  I remember that I had jock itch that started around my navel and went down to just above the knees.   My flesh was peeling off and it stunk and hurt like hell.  We were not allowed anything to make it better or hurt less.  I remember that mine was so bad that it would bleed and was scabby.  It itched bad as well and the first thing I would do when I got my pants off at night was rake my finger nails across it trying to get some relief.  'Course, the scratching made it bleed as well..shit, I fucking hated that place.
