The Ohio Prevention and Education Conference (OPEC) will take place December 5-7, 2006 at the Columbus Convention Center. The 18th Annual OPEC Conference is sponsored by the Ohio Interagency Prevention Partnership, which includes: The Governor's Office of Family and Children First and Cabinet Departments of: Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services, Education, Health, Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, Mental Health, Job and Family Services, and Youth Services as well as the Department of Public Safety, the Office of the Attorney General and the Drug Enforcement Agency.
These State Partners have joined efforts to provide participants with a conference consistent with the commitments made in the Ohio Shared State Agency Prevention Framework. This is just one example of state systems collaboration of many already initiated by the Interagency Prevention Partnership and many more to come.
The Framework serves as a foundation for collaborative action that embraces the prevention research of risk, protection and resiliency. Consistent with this research the Interagency Prevention Partnership recognizes that systems of care versus silos of care are in the best interest of those we serve.
The Interagency Prevention Partners envision that conference participants will use this opportunity to further their cross systems collaboration to insure that state, county and community resources meet the prevention needs of Ohio?s citizens.
