Wow, now that's a blast from the past; I went out and bought that tape (this was back before I ever had a cd player) the day after I heard "I Bleed" on the local college radio station. Great album, if not their best.

Nice Fleetwood Mac set there Frodo.
I'm surprised; as commercial as they got, I'd've thought they'd be off the
'approved music listening list'!!

For me, commercialism is neither here nor there when it comes to that; I like what I like. In this case, I like hearing live renditions of songs that I've heard over and over since puberty, at least moreso than listening to the same old studio takes again...

Yeah, "Baker Street" is a great song from when I was ten or eleven and listening to pop radio, it was commercial and good.  The Foo Fighters version is great.  "Year of the Cat" was cool, too.  "Thunder Island" by Jay Ferguson, John Stewart's "Gold" with Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie singing, even Bob Welch's wimpy songs.  The Fleetwood Mac song "Tusk" gave me nightmares.  Don't know why, I thought is was creepy.

Here's some more info on the Spades.

America's "Sister Golden Hair" is a good one, too... I could go on and on; and as far as pop 70s tunes covered by others, Killdozer's versions of "Hush" and "Take the Money and Run" immediately come to mind..

Gin Blossoms - Lost Horizons

People knock the Gin Blossoms, but Doug Hopkins wrote great Power Pop.  "Lost Horizons" is a great song.  "Kelli Richards" off Up and Crumbling was about his favorite porn queen.  The first Gin Blossoms album Dusted has better versions of some of the songs from New Miserable Experience, much faster and edgier.

It's fucked up what happened to Doug Hopkins.

Joseph Arthur -Redemption's Son

Joseph Arthur - Nuclear Daydream

I love Fleetwood Mac!
Some of their stuff is so haunting (Tusk): mostly w/Stevie
vocals.  I 'get lost' in that vein/flavor/whatever of music.
Can just close my eyes and drift-safely.  I also love a
GOOD steel guitar (Sleepwalk)

Oldies Radio on iTunes

Mr. 3xs hates '80s music'. Says it was the worst decade ever.
I listen to whatever I like - whenever it's from. (Some when he's
not home hehhehheh)
I do have a dislike for some commercials, usually I really like
the song and the commercial ruins it for me.

Can't listen to Baker Street:  bad memories

If you would have justice in this world, then begin to see that a human being is not a means to some end.  People are not commodities.  When human beings are just to one another government becomes obsolete and real freedom is born; SPIRITUAL ANARCHY.

It's a loud day at RTP's!  Checked out the Spades yet?

Drs. for What's-His-Name?  Hmm...are you avoiding a pink boy designation, or afraid of the One True Pipe?

It's been Melvinmania in the House of Zen again - mo' Melvins, mo Melvins, mo Melvins.  I walk around humming the almost Celtic whistled melody at the end of "Road Bull" constantly.
