ANY UNHAPPY PARENTS OF FFS STUDENTS HAVE ANY
HORROR STORIES TO SHARE?

I AM A PARENT WHO DID NOT AGREE WITH THE OTHER PARENT'S DECISION TO SEND OUR CHILD TO THE FFS.
WE ARE DIVORCED.
ONCE I LEARNED THAT MY CHILD WAS SENT THERE,
I CALLED THE SCHOOL TELLING THEM THAT I AM NOT IN AGREEMENT FOR THE CHILD'S PLACEMENT THERE.
THEY TOLD ME THAT IF BOTH PARENTS DO NOT AGREE WITH THAT DECISION, THAT THEY WOULD NOT ACCEPT HER.
THEY DID!
DUE TO THEIR 12 STEP PROGRAM (THAT BY THE WAY WOULD BE ILLEGAL IN PUBLIC DOMAINS), I WAS DENIED VISITATIONS AND PHONE CALLS FOR VERY LONG TIMES AT A CLIP. DURING HOLIDAYS, BIRTHDAYS AND ANY OTHER FAMILY CELEBRATIONS THEE FFS WOULD DENY MY CHILD CONTACT WITH THE FAMILY. THEIR FFS FAMILY WAS MORE IMPORTANT.
WHEN MY CHILD COMPLAINED TO THE STAFF THAT SHE HAD A TOOTH ACHE (SHE NEVER HAD A CAVITY PRIOR TOCOMING TO THE FFS)SHE WAS IGNORED UNTIL I FINALLY STEPPED IN AND INSISTED THAT SHE SEE A DENTIST. WHEN THEY FINALLY GAVE IN THEY WOULD NOT ALLOW HER TO SEE HER OWN DENTIST BUT ONE OF THEIR OWN. HE WROTE ME THAT SHE HAS 10 CAVITIES AND GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE.
I THEN INSISTED THAT I TAKE HER TO OUR FAMILY DENTIST. THEY SAID THAT IT WOULD COUNT TOWARD ONE OF MY VISITS. OUR DENTIST SAID SHE ONLY HAD 3 CAVITIES. OBVIOUSLY THE BILL WAS MUCH LOWER.
BUT THE POINT IS THAT MY CHILD NEEDLESSLY SUFFERED FOR WEEKS WITH PAIN.
ABOUT THE EDUCATION: FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND IS THAT MOST IF NOT ALL THE "TEACHERS" ARE NOT CERTIFIED. THAT SOME WERE TEACHING THEIR RESPECTIVE COURSES FOR THE FIRST TIME.
FOR OVER $42,000/YEAR THAT IS A SCAM.
ONE MORNING I GOT A CALL FROM THE FFS.
THEY TOLD ME THAT MY CHILD RAN AWAY THE NIGHT BEFORE. IMAGINE THAT.  I CALLED THEM BACK TELLING THEM THAT I HAD CONTACTED THE STATE POLICE TO HELP FIND HER. THEY WERE UPSET THAT I DID THAT. I GOT A CALL FROM THE FFS THAT NIGHT SAYING THAT SHE WAS FOUND. A STATE TROOPER CALLED ME BACK ALSO AND TOLD ME THAT MY CHILD AND ANOTHER CHILD WERE BOTH FOUND THAT MORNING, NOT AT NIGHT. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THERE. IT SEEMS LIKE PART OF THE PROGRAM TO RILE THE PARENTS TO SHOW THEM HOW IMPORTANT IT IS FOR THE CHILDREN TO BE THERE.
HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THEY ACTUALLY WATCH THE KIDS RUN AND DO NOTHING TO STOP THEM.
WHO IS LIABLE IF INJURY OR KIDNAPPING OCCURS?
WELL, ENOUGH FOR NOW FOR I CAN GO ON FOREVER.

JUST NOTE THAT THIS IS A 12 STEP PROGRAM.
IT IS DOCUMENTED OVER AND OVER AGAIN THAT THESE PROGRAMS DO NOT WORK FOR THE VAST MAJORITY.
THE KIDS JUST LEARN TO GIVE LIP SERVICE BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO FAKE THEIR "CURE".
ALSO THIS VERY 12 STEP PROGRAM IS THE BACKBONE TO CULT THINKING AND RECRUITMENT.

Welcome to the board and thank you for sharing your experience.  

I have read many accounts of the "treatment" FFS provides.  Many describe it as cult-like.  Most say it did not help them.  Still other say they were horribly abused.

It surprises me not one bit that they didn't want to involve the police in a "missing person" call.  Places like FFS generally want to avoid any outsider scrutiny, especially that of law enforcement.

Have you expressed your concerns to the Attorney General?  He has proven to be a strong ally against abuse and fraud by entities like FFS.  Recently he successfully sued the Academy at Ivy Ridge and won over $1,000,000.00 in restitution to the victims of abuse and fraud there.  I'd suggest contacting his office if you believe FFS is behaving fraudulently or is abusing your child.

I would like to share a horror story:

I have 3 kids, two boys and one girl from a family that has stayed together through 25 years of marriage.  My daughter started rebelling at an early age (15), drinking, smoking pot, quitting school, getting fired from her job, lying, running away from home, delivering drugs so she could get hers for free.  That is my horror story, that took many sleep from my nights, almost lost my job, brought tears and disruption to our family.

My child entered the family school close to being 18 years old, and left when she was 19.5.  She left with a presidential scholarship for college; two years later, she's in an honor roll, preparing her application for her masters' degree.

They did what I was totally unable to do:  give her goals in life, love for herself and family and a desire to be someone in life, instead of one more statistic in the war against drugs and alcohol.

She is almost 22 now....4 years clean and sober.

Was it easy?  No!   But, as with many things in life, what's really worthy doesn't come easy, you have to work for it.   And, she did just that...and we did too.

Please don't take away the credit of a school that has saved so many lives.

Anon, welcome. Yeah, pretty much, we've seen it all. Nothing you say is at all unbelievable.

I know it's a shock that such a thing could go on for so long right under your nose and you nor anyone you know even suspect it. But you've found a contact point for a lot of people who do understand.
