Did he claim that he had no knowledge of what went on in group, or that he had no knowledge of the abuse that occurred in group? If it's the latter, a photo of him schmoozing with parents will accomplish very little. Of course, we don't know what the photo shows yet. "
Yeah, well I haven't seen the photos either. But, if this pans out, it's just one more little piece in the puzzle.
Do you understand that the whole program, as designed, is extremely abusive?
I believe Mel and Betty had newcomers in their home when their son, Brent, was in the Seed. And I believe they continued to take in phasers and newcomers after they founded Straight inc. I don't
know this to be true. But I'm reasonably certain of it and hoping for a few ppl who can swear to it will contact interested journalists, lawyers and others.
Come on, connect the dots! One of the frequent violations was false imprisonment. Do you understand that nobody but an on duty law enforcement officer ever had a right to physically detain you? Those locked doors and nailed shut windows were not only dunderheaded from a fire safety point of view, but pattently illegal as well.
Have you ever seen a newcomer just walk out the door? No? Me neither. Plenty off accounts of newcomers making a dash for it, sometimes getting away, but more often getting creamed by half a dozen guys. Do you think that's legal? Do you think it's even remotely possible that Mel and Betty were blithely unaware of this practice for the 17 fucking years they ran the place, plus the couple of years prior when they were entheusiastic Seed parents? I don't buy it.
Oh, and so many more.
I think Mel and Betty were the driving force, the meanest edge in the Program. They took an already messed up concept from the Seed and ratchetted it up a good many notches.
A photo of them in parent weekend along w/ descriptions from other people who were there about the content and generall proceedure of these parent weekends would be just one more li'll piece of the puzzle. Not quite as good as a few credible wittnesses willing and able to testify to conditions and practices in the Sembler foster home, of course. But still sort of nice.
I understand there's even a better one in the mix, too. Nowhere near as legally potent. But, if it pans out, I know that just about everyone who's ever made Virgil's acquaintence will get a big charge out of it.
... and the group leader was a clown.
