Program Parents & Supporters are SADISTS

Sadist: someone who obtains pleasure from inflicting pain or others

Sounds like anyone or any program you know?

It sounds familiar to me too.

I have been out of a WWASP program for going on 5 years now, and have had a lot of time to think about what happened. I have spent about 2 years now coming to this board and reading and posting as well, trying to make sense of this mess we once found ourselves in.

I have come to the conclusion, SOME, not all people involved in the program ENJOY the way the program is facilitated. There is no explanation why the program couldn't have improved over the last 5 years since I've gone, but it is just as bad. (I've heard possibly worse because of the overcrowding)

Are the people in charge of the program SADISTS? This is a completely legitimate question, and I think it needs to be answered. Normal, moral individuals tend to forget that other people might not share their values. We assume most people have are at least more good than evil, but that is not true. This is a common mistake in warfare, and many of empire have been lost underestimating the sadism of ones opponent.

I don't enjoy violence, torture, abuse, heck - I don't even feel comfortable when people are angry around me. But for some reason, the staff and trainers at WWASP seem to thrive on disorder, emotional chaos and intimidation. That is all WWASP is. That is, the staff that stick around. We went through a SHITLOAD of staff at SCL, because many new ones who signed on would get booted for being 'normal'. By this I mean, they weren't putting the program ideology over the kids wellbeing they cared for. They were fired. Why? Someone on top must be paying careful attention.

I had a staff in worksheets and the hobbit once, he was in his early twenties, and like so many of the other sadist staff, he ENJOYED hitting kids and beating them and 'taking them down'. I would say only a handful were like this, but the rest didn't mind looking the other way. Where is the accountability?

To conclude this ramble, I now believe the entire program is based on SADISM. The people in charge are SADISTS themselves, and many staff who seek out this type of employment are - guess what - SADISTS. Of course not 100% of the staff are, but even a couple are enough to damage a kid's psyche forever with beatings, sexual assault or worse.

WWASP needs a new slogan:

We will scare the fuck out of your teen so much, you won't recognize them when they come home!!

(sad thing is, this is what many parents want... a different kid than they sent... pathetic)

Here's the deal: If these things happened, you should have reported them. No excuses like being too traumatized, not having access, etc. You have access now, so shit or get off the pot.

Either you're telling the truth and it's absolutely wrong to not take action, or you're exaggerating and avoiding real scrutiny while enjoying the attention. Which one is it?

Yeah, right? Darlin, I've got a stack of demand letters from various schools and programs insisting that I must delete this or that telling of events posted by one former client or parent or another. When you do go to the authorities, more often than not they brush it under the rug w/ a wink and a nod.

No. Actually I didn't even think back on my stay until about three or four years after I left. After I left I was a mess, fucked up on drugs barely clinging to life. I ended up being institutionalized several more times after getting out when I was 18. It's mostly just a blur... I was messed up. Now... memories start to surface, and I am starting to realize I didn't deserve the treatment I received. I like to post here because it's nice to talk to other people who have been through the same experience and can relate. I could care less about your huge debate about programs... seriously. In my experience, there were some staff there who enjoyed messing with the kids, both emotionally and physically. Does this not fit the definition above? Maybe after you've spent a week straight in the hobbit being messed with because you don't want to take the dozen meds they have you on will you come to agree. (never)Why don't I 'take action' like you say? Because I live in fucking reality, that's why. I've written my story and mailed it to all the addresses on here, I've signed the petitions, blah blah, whatever. So don't say I've never taken action, you don't know me. But no, I doubt going up to Thompson Falls, and saying I saw a staff who's name I dont know throw a kid face down on the floor and bruise him.. and dont know the kids name either.. almost six years ago. What do you think their response would be? Come on, you know beter.
Let me correct your assumptions on why I am here. I am here to discuss what happened to all of us who are posting. We were sent to a strange program in the middle of the woods, who's nightmares still haunt us till today. Is it so absurd I go on a message board online and ask questions and provoke discussion? I think not.

PS: Your right, I should have reported everything right after I got out. I should have taken detailed mental notes of the staff who hit kids, etc. But it's just not the mindset you are in. I wish I had, I really do. Unfortunately I descended into my own personal hell from which I am just now recovering.

And no, I don't 'blame' WWASP for all my problems. But I do know, after going through half a dozen facilities and programs at least, WWASP was the strangest, and I have questions. I do know they don't help you help yourself. AT least for me.

PSS: The overall point of my original post was questioning the motives and ideology of the people who run the program. I saw a pattern that included firing staff who got chummy with the students. I thought this was strange.

What is the statute of limitations in making accusations about schools or members of its staff of abuse or neglect?

Mont. Code Ann.ยง 27-2-216 provides:

27-2-216. Tort actions -- childhood sexual abuse. (1) An action based on intentional conduct brought by a person for recovery of damages for injury suffered as a result of childhood sexual abuse must be commenced not later than:

    (a) 3 years after the act of childhood sexual abuse that is alleged to have caused the injury; or

    (b) 3 years after the plaintiff discovers or reasonably should have discovered that the injury was caused by the act of childhood sexual abuse.

    (2) It is not necessary for a plaintiff to establish which act, in a series of acts of childhood sexual abuse, caused the injury that is the subject of the suit. The plaintiff may compute the period referred to in subsection (1)(a) from the date of the last act by the same perpetrator.

    (3) As used in this section, "childhood sexual abuse" means any act committed against a plaintiff who was less than 18 years of age at the time the act occurred and that would have been a violation of 45-5-502, 45-5-503, 45-5-504, 45-5-505, 45-5-507, 45-5-625, or prior similar laws in effect at the time the act occurred.

    (4) The provisions of 27-2-401 apply to this section.

    History: Enacted 1989: En. Sec. 2, Ch. 158, L. 1989.

In Werre v. David, 913 P.2d 625 (Mont. 1996), the Montana Supreme court ruled that the statute of limitations does not being to run until the victims discovers of the injury and fact injury caused by childhood sexual abuse.

I remember one staff member who came to work at Provo Canyon School.  I think she thought the program was pretty sick, and, from what I knew, the other staff found her to be too kind to the students (for example, she didn't issue enough "infractions").  She didn't work there long.

I believe that those who grow up in a place like Utah have a tendency to become repressed- socially and sexually.  They become confused (even if just subconsciously, but others I have seen are quite conscious of it), and have no healthy outlet to explore any feelings which may not conform to local mores...so they go work at behavior modification facilities, where they can be around the same sex, or around children, or where they can exert total control over somebody- physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, or sexually.

OF COURSE many of the staff at these facilities are sadists.  Others are pedophiles, energy vampires, just violent, or confused and/or angered by their homosexual feelings.

Yet others are just local people who lack the education and skills needed to work anywhere else.

Ive noticed people working for govt or for businesses such as, say, a program (or anything else giving you control over other people) tends to bring out such control freakery, unless theyre actually intelligent and educated.

Two guesses how many uneducated fucks work for the industry

And well, theres always exceptions. Learned people can still turn into fuckwads... Gilcrease, anyone?

At Victory Christian Academy, none of the staff had college degrees, and most did not have high school diplomas.  It's a shocker, I'm sure.  Oh, actually, the owner got an "honorary" doctorate degree from some Bible college, so he went around after that calling himself Dr. Palmer.  He had serious delusions of grandeur.  Lots of the staff did.  I think that's mostly why they were there.  They all talked about God calling them there and stuff.  They actually thought that they were so special that God talked to them and told them that they were too great to work in regular jobs.

Not everyone that works in these programs are Sadists.  Until recently I was employed at Spring Creek and I NEVER once thought of ways to hurt or abuse the girls in my care.  In fact, I was often in trouble with my Supervisors for being too "soft" and too "emotionally involved".  They felt I couldn't do my job properly because I wasn't a "hard ass".  I was pulled out of being a Family Mom and was going to be put in Study Hall to "toughen me up", but I chose to move into an different job.

There are people working at these facilities that do care, that aren't "uneducated Hicks", and that would like to make a difference in a kid's life....I was one of them and I know a few more.
