Remember those stupid new resident plaques we had to make when we first came in? And how about : (you may eat in dicotomy)? By the time we were able to eat, the food was luke warm. The best food there was those egg mcmuffins, I could eat about 10 of those things, they were so good. To this day I can't even replicate the taste of them, I dont know why either, I'm rather great when it comes to cooking in the kitchen.

I remember at times when a cook called out sick or something elan always put a reentry person in the kitchen to cook for the entire day, fortunately none of them knew what they were doing. After discovering cooking came to as a natural foir me, the staff always had me to replace the cooks when they couldnt come in for some reasons. I didnt mind it either, got me off the floor all day.

I guess maybe I do owe elan a little something in what I learned, after leaving elan I worked in restuarants as a cook and a few as a chef after gaining more experience. However it wasnt my calling in life to make it a career, but I do enjoy cooking it is fun.

Someone asked the question did Elan use instant eggs in my time, No they didnt. they had many many huge flats of real eggs. I rememeber on the weekends cooking all those scrambled eggs, we used a ton of them.

I remember on Sundays the Ramrod and department head of the kitchen would do the cooking for the day. It was pretty good come to think of it now.Chicken was about the only thing that was half way good, Its hard to fuck up chicken. Your right those egg muffins were good. The eggs were real.By the way do they still make you sing a song in front of the house when your a new res?[ This Message was edited by: screann on 2006-02-03 10:43 ]

Elan was infamous for suspending and
firing the cooks. The directors use to hate
when the cooks interacted with the students.

There was one cook at Elan that got really
angry at Marc R. for Marc calling him a
insulting name to the entire house during
a House meeting.

The cook over heard what Marc said and let his
feelings be known in front of the entire
house about how he felt about Marc.

I personally found the cooks to be insightful
and full of humor, they made out stays that
much more pleasant and often gave me and
others cigarettes. I guess I was contracted
out with them.[ This Message was edited by: ZYKLON-B on 2006-02-06 15:28 ]
