Thank you for not smoking, Mr. Bush
When President Bush was in Rome for Pope John Paul II's funeral, the Washington Post reports, Mel Sembler, the St. Petersburg developer of BayWalk who is U.S. ambassador to Italy, brought out cigars after dinner. Betty Sembler said there would be no smoking in the house but said the smokers could go out to the veranda. On being reminded, "But it's the president of the United States," Mrs. Sembler replied, "But it's my house." Bush said he understood and led the group outside.
