The intake rooms in the mornings were aweful...too many of us being crammed into a hot tiny space or having standing in line heel/toe while trying to keep someone's hair out of your face.......YUK!

At Springfield there were several intake rooms.  They varied in size.  The largest bein' about 14'x12', the smallest bein' about 10'x 12'.  i forget exactly what time the buildin' opened but i think it was about 6am.  So from that time on newcomers were bein' dropped off in the intake rooms waitin' for group to start around 9am.  The VA program had a huge group when i was there, like what ,i don' know like maybe 100-130 guys, maybe more and maybe 75-85 girls.  i don' really remember but there were a lot of newcomers in those little intake rooms.  

it would get so crowded, the air was hot and foul,  Once things got so tense i got into a fist fight with another newcomer, over leanin' space on the wall.  What a wretched memory.

Wow! i just had a memory bubble...sticking my face in the corner of the intake room to breath "fresh" air through the cracks in the wall...

I know...what the hell was that anyways? I remember having a greasy layer of film on my face and then if I cried and wiped my face it would just feel so gross. But of course worrying about anything like that was proof that you were being into your self too much so you really shouldn't even notice such things.

Snot rags left on the chairs in group.  BTW i don' remember the so-called "blue" chairs which many have referred to.  The chairs at Springfield were orange.(maybe some were yellow too)

Hey Pirate....Atlanta had blue chairs and I'm pretty sure Saint Pete did too.  :grin:
