To All Survivors of "Behavior Modification" boarding schools

Please can you tell me what I can do or say to my son to help him get through these hard times. I am asking all if you could please tell me what would have or could have been said or done to help you through the time you spent at one of these horrid places. I wish I had custody but I do not, I obviously didnt put my son in this B.M. boarding school. I just thought that maybe there was something I could say or do that might be of help to him. Of couse I otta know being the parent, but I cannot imagine anything that would help make him feel better. Ive sent pictures and letters, he does not get them. Ive offered to send him new clothes and material things.. he says he doesnt need anything. Is he just saying that because he is not allowed to ask for anything? Im needing some input from those that have been there done that...Im very grateful for any Info. you have to share. Thank You,  P.E.N. 1 :nworthy:

I remember that when I was in BM one of the things that hurt the most was when my parents would start talking like the program and using their keywords and phrases, telling me I was a "manipulator," or that I needed to "work the program."  I guess I just wish I could have had someone telling me to never forget who I really am, stay proud, and to stay true to myself.  Oh yeah, and to sit up straight and work on my posture.  I know it sounds trivial, but being in a BM, we didn't get outside much and had little exercise, also they were always putting us down, so it was natural to kinda slouch and hang your head.  I learned that as soon as I started keeping my chin up, shoulders back, and sitting up straight, and being more confident, the counselors and staff actually started to treat me with more respect.
