Whitmore claims to be Acadmics Only Boarding School--Why ta
« on: August 15, 2005, 07:46:00 PM »
If the Sudweeks claim to be out of the teen help business, and claim to be an Academics only boarding school---then why have a student taking the GED test this past week?  What's that about? Can't the Whitmore, that the Sudweeks claim is FULLY ACCREDITED, issue a High School Diploma that is acceptable to any college or university nationwide?

Should be OBVIOUS, but one minute there's a "Whitmore GRADUATION" and next a kid there is taking a GED. One minute Mark Sudweeks is quoted in the TRIBUNE, "We are out of the teen help business and offer no therapy, and are an ACADEMICS ONLY BOARDING SCHOOL," and now some kids needs to take a GED test, and DR. BERNIE FARROW is the valued employee? Something's not connecting here !

"GRADUATION" usually implies that a student completed a high school curriculum and is therefore prepared to go on to college with approved High School courses completed, right? These "students" that "graduated" from OLE WHITMORE HIGH were of varying ages. What do we have here? Some young SAVANTS?

Understand the Whitmore "students" are attending the BYU Education Week again this week. Gathering up "high school credits," are they?

Not unless listening to lectures about the Mormon religion qualifies.  Wonder how many credits it's worth -- two weeks?

Some kids take the easy / fast way out....don't care if they have a diloma, just want to get school over with.

The "KID" gets to make this decision?
Thought Whitmore Academy was NOW an Academics ONLY Boarding school. Wouldn't the parents, and the Administrators/Principal/Head-Masters (whatever the Sudweeks are calling themselves these days)--be making these types of decisions at this FINE ACADEMICS ONLY BOARDING SCHOOL...and not some KID?

Read the WWWASP THREAD about "IVY RIDGE Settles Dispute With New York Attorney General's Office"

The Academy at Ivy Ridge settled for more than 1 million dollars in tuition refunds after the state Attorney General's Office found the school is not accredited.

Seems Ivy Ridge was dealing with the same agency that "accredits" Whitmore Academy---
Northwest Association of Accredited Schools

Parents have been questioning Whitmore's  "accreditation status" a long time on these boards.

Accreditation issues with Whitmore have been an ongoing issue for a long long time. Students have posted here on fornits that they were "in charge of transcripts," and curriculum at Whitmore. Might be a real problem here.

Ever look at "The DAILY SCHEDULE?" Absolutely ridculous.  THE STAFF? mostly UN-certified Sudweeks relatives. All a great big JOKE!

If accepting "academics only students" then the Sudweeks should get this accreditation under control, right? Then why the need of GED testing?

Even stranger yet--off on a trip to Canada with these "students" with a criminal trial for child abuse underway? What's that about?
