Antibody... you & I were there at the same time.  I was on a lower phase on girls' side at the time so my knowledge of the activities leading up to the suicide of TS were based on second-hand info- but as I understood it--- TS had a child, he was 20ish?, he had been court-ordered and was weeks away from 7th stepping, he was busted by a fellow 6th-phaser (or staffer?) having relations with a girl (gasp!) and THAT PERSON insisted that his conscience wouldn't allow him to keep him that little secret and THAT PERSON ratted him out.... directly resulting in the end of TS who didn't want to go to prison for violating the terms of his court-ordered rehabilitation.  Am I wrong?  Was this gossip?  If that's how it went down, that really sucks right?  There is a fatherless child and childless parents out there because GT convinced 6th-phaser-x that having a girlfriend meant TS had RELAPSED!?  I barely knew this guy but I still find it as sad and infuriating now as I did then-- maybe even moreso because I am now a parent myself.  I find it surprising that you were a 'friend' of his yet you seem to think TS was done right by GT?  

I also think the "tried pot 3 times" factor was greater than you are reporting.  There was a kid there that (as I recall) had been on 1st phase for years, dating back to when he was 12, for, essentially, misbehaving.  No drug use.  There was a girl there for anorexia.  Then there were those of us (me) who WERE smoking pot and had tried other drugs but were forced to greatly exaggerate our drug lists (and in my case, feign my own "outing" as a bisexual in order to make 2nd phase).  I think the program made most of these kids look worse than they really were, for the sake of moving up.

ts was busted with a girl... he was living with another 6th phaser who came home unexpected..  TS within one minute of being found at the house with a girl punched a large glass fish tank which sliced his hand open then took off. i got the phone call 'there was a girl over, shes still here, ts is bleeding and left'

ts would have not been in violation of his probation for the relationship or started over. everyone that he might be willing to contact was informed to have him call a specific staff member who was going to offer him 7 day refresher and immediately back to 6th phase. ts was a staff apprentice at the time.

GT was a choice TS made when given 2 options. he could have done life in prison. i didnt give him the choices. Im not sure i said GT did him right or wrong... i do believe that a large part of the article i read was misleading, thus the main reasons for my response.

greater than i reported? i left staff over unwillingness to do the intake on a kid that 'smoked pot 3 times'... I think i agree with you for the most part.. i also think the girls side was a lot harder to deal with than guys side.. I dont envy you at all... if i had  JB deciding if i was honest or not i would still be sitting there. I tried really hard to get them to lax up some, me and 2 others got them to drop 6th phase from 6 to 4 months (i was mostly involved in aftercare/6th phase)

im interested to know who you are, if your still in the area? you have a kid huh? i should remember the bisexual thing and put a name and face to the story but i cant.

Oh my... JB... does that bring back some horrifying memories.  She ripped me a new one on Day 3 about how FOS I was.  Then the entire girls side proceeded to, one-by-one, go off on me about what a lying druggie slut I was (at all of 15, impressive).  It requires a great deal of incite to determine that within 72 hours of knowing me.  (!?!)

I remember TS was court-ordered but I don't recall that was an alternative to "life in prison".  He was a minor at the time wasn't he?  I thought it was an assault charge.  Of course, you have much more intimate knowledge of what happened- I'm just telling it like I remember it and how it was relayed to the female side (via "it was said that" bla bla bla).  I don't remember the 6th-phaser roommates name but I remember his face, and I remember blaming him (and GT of course).  I know the blame should be placed on TS for his own suicide, but having been at GT I can only imagine how it would feel to be so close to the finish line and be threatened with a set-back for something so completely fucking ridiculous as having a girl over.  He was celibate for all of those years, it would be sad if he hadn't found a girlfriend!

it might not have been life, it was a long time tho, there were several (3 i remember) felonies. he was an adult. tried as an adult. guilty. my brain is not what it use to be.

i can tell you to this day his mother is thankful he had the chance in GT. she told me she believes he would have killed himself in prison. he would have never had the year to spend getting to know her and his child.

TS had previously had his 6th phase started over for a situation that could have gotten anyone else on a refresher or start over to 1st phase. he should have known from previous experience that staff was trying to treat him as an adult, a 20 year old father who might behave differently than a 14 year old kid.

btw you know the current status of GT? when MB became the director in the new building after Ivan she racked up some debts, they had to take out a mortgage on the bldg. they had to sell the building recently, the program has changed quite a bit im told, i hear they have a place off 45th street and looking for a clinical director.

when i said before the problem was executive staff... JB is a perfect example of why that is true. She had free reign to run girls side however she saw fit. she could do no wrong. i dont have a problem with her (i love her brother to death btw) the problem was she had no business with the power she had and executive staff and parents alike put her on a pedestal. i dont think this did her any good either.....

you know those pittbulls they train to fight... when the people that fight the dogs are busted the dogs are killed (hey its humane!?@#)... it isnt the dogs fault he is a mean sob, he was trained to be.

I see your point about JB.  Really, she wasn't around all that much- but when she did come around it just sent chills down our spine.  We all are freaking out in our heads about 'what does she know' 'what is she going to say' 'please god let it be someone else'.  She looked so unassuming, but the pitbull was there for sure.

I know nothing about GT after I left.  I know they moved across the parking lot to the basement where the porn photographer used to be.  That was after my time though.  They were still on the 1st floor of "the building" when I left.  

To comment on sanitation- that place really was filthy.  There were bugs, rodents and I never saw anybody initiate a true deep cleaning day.  That's what comes of not having any ventilation.  It had that constant ickiness like a 24 hour diner.

I've had a couple of odd memories this morning thanks to you.  I remembered how god awful and unasanitary the ChuckWagon food was.  And did you happen to be there when a barbershop quartet came in to entertain us delinquents?  It was so surreal- old men in their red and white pinstriped outfits harmonizing while we sat on the floor under those pink lights.  What a weird moment.

I remember one more force on girl's side- Andrea, can't remember her last name.  Total butch.

try and remember that i got locked in the same as you did, i got brainwashed just like you did, you might have realized it sooner than i did.
