Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - "Sheep"
« Reply #660 on: November 17, 2010, 10:50:44 AM »
Born in sheep's blood plain and simple
Washed out of my mother's temple
All around I heard them laughing
As father sheep had stood there calving

Black they were with white eyes gleaming
Right in heaven life was seeming
Brittle wind blew snow upon me
I got blanketed all white and frosty

In my time I grew and killed them
Or out of memory I willed them
And willed in a greater history
Out of massacre and mystery

Was no longer wealthy, woolly
Nor anything I could grasp fully
Someone rush to re-inject me
Gods of gods won't you protect me?

Fixed my face and marching onward
Marching running ever forward
Buildings were a bloody vessel
Edging me below the trestle

There in coal and whitened gravel
I built a shield of wooden baffle
Inside of which I raised a fire
So I could tonight retire

Everyone will tell you it's evil to be
A free-thinking pecker like bonny old me
So I'll flex my armies and blow out my gut
And prove I'll be loved by any old slut
Look here in my wallet, it's loaded and true
And now I can leave here and go and find you

VENOM
Large Mammal

1) Get up! Get up!
get off your seat, get on your feet instead
ya know they scheme to keep ya dreamin
( lying in your bed!)
but if you don't wake up, you're gonna be mislead
by the worthless information being pumped into your head!

(chorus)
well, life can be so unkind
the intricate knots entwine
feelings i'll half explore
wait around every corridor
they're tapping on the door

2) Jump high and fly
break the chains to find what state you're in
state of wonder or confusion, or a state of bliss
we could wallow in tomorrow draggin yesterday's fists
or sail the sea of destiny like : odysseus!

(chorus)

3) So i juxtapose what i know against the brain-set
sweatin, preachin, he ain't even in the game yet
and even though it's flowin slow out of the snake pit steaming venom streams right out the mouths of
fuckin hypocrites!

(chorus)

SLAVES   -   Large Mammal

1)the streets are all empty/my blood turns to flame
you put a knife in my heart/when you stuck that spike in your vein
there's some trash on the dashboard/the wind blows lame/your eyes roll back/i look away.

(chorus)
can you taste the stars shining/with your arm tied tight/does the candle burn you stomach as it's snuffing out the light/ are there just no more oasis/what happened to delight/how long have we been slaves/to something white?

2) howl at the rainbows/at night cant vent this new rage/wouldn't Napoleon envy/the words roll off the page
why cant i stop this tirade/why am i so damn concerned/out on the edge of the twilight/i face away from all those bridges that i've burned.

(chorus2)
but can you taste the stars shining with your lips around that pipe?/does the candle burn your stomach as it/snuffs out the light/are there just no more oasis/what happened to delight?/how long have we been slaves/to something white?
(repeat v1)
(repeat chorus 2)

(Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman
The Kinks

Woke up this morning, started to sneeze
I had a cigarette and a cup of tea
I looked in the mirror what did I see
A nine stone weakling with knobbly knees
I did my knees bend press ups touch my toes
I had another sneeze and I blew my nose
I looked in the mirror at my pigeon chest
I had to put on my clothes because it made me depressed
Surely there must be a way
For me to change the shape I'm in
Dissatisfied is what I am
I want to be a better man

Superman Superman wish I could fly like Superman
Superman Superman I want to be like Superman
I want to be like Superman
Superman Superman wish I could fly like Superman

Woke up this morning, what did I see
A big black cloud hanging over me
I switched on the radio and nearly dropped dead
The news was so bad that I fell out of bed
There was a gas strike, oil strike, lorry strike, bread strike
Got to be a Superman to survive
Gas bills, rent bills, tax bills, phone bills
I'm such a wreck but I'm staying alive

[Look in the paper, what do I see,
Robbery, violence, insanity.]

Hey girl we've got to get out of this place
There's got to be something better than this
I need you, but I hate to see you this way
If I were Superman then we'd fly away
I'd really like to change the world
And save it from the mess it's in
I'm too weak, I'm so thin
I'd like to fly but I can't even swim

Superman Superman I want to fly like Superman
Superman Superman wish I could fly like Superman
Superman Superman wish I could fly like Superman
Superman Superman I want to be like Superman
Superman Superman I want to fly like Superman

The Kinks--"Big Sky"
« Reply #664 on: November 20, 2010, 04:24:25 PM »
Big Sky looks down on all the people looking up at the Big Sky.
Everybody pushing one another around
Big Sky feels sad when he sees the children scream and cry
But the Big Sky is too big to let it get him down.

Big Sky too big to cry
Big Sky too high to see
People like you and me

One day we'll be free, we won't care, just you see
'Til that day can be, don't let it get you down
When I feel that the world is too much for me
I think of the Big Sky, and nothing matters much to me.

Big Sky looks down on all the people who think they got problems
They get depressed and they hold their head in their hands and cry.
People lift up their hands and they look up to the Big Sky
But the Big Sky is too big to sympathize

Big Sky's too occupied
Though he would like to try
And he feels bad inside
Big Sky's too big to cry

One day we'll be free, we won't care, just you wait and see
'Til that day can be, don't let it get you down.

Ween--"She Fucks Me"

Pork roll egg and cheese on a kaiser bun
[repeat throughout background of song]

I met her at the Living Earth Show
She crossed the room, the lights sank low
We're together, she really digs me -- she fucks me
Who could think I could be so happy?
When I'm cold, I know she's keepin' me warm
We're together, she really digs me -- she fucks me

She's in my arms, she's in my heart, yeah
Pins and needles up and down my spine
We're together, she really digs me now
She fucks me, she fucks me
She fucks me

She fucks me
Right on

She fucks me
On the downlow
She fucks me

Robert Plant--"Ship Of Fools"

On waves of love my heart is breaking
And stranger still my self control I can't rely on anymore
New tides surprise - my world it's changing
Within this frame an ocean swells - behind this smile I know it well
Beneath a lover's moon I'm waiting
I am the pilot of the storm - adrift in pleasure I may drown
I built this ship - it is my making
And furthermore my self control I can't rely on anymore
I know why - I know why
Crazy on a ship of fools
Crazy on a ship of fools
Turn this boat around - back to my loving ground
Who claims that no man is an island
While I land up in jeopardy - more distant from you by degrees
I walk this shore in isolation
And at my feet eternity draws ever sweeter plans for me
I know why - I know why
Crazy on a ship of fools
Crazy on a ship of fools
Turn this boat around - back to my loving ground
Oh no, oh no - ship of fools

Led Zeppelin--"All My Love"
« Reply #667 on: November 29, 2010, 11:50:10 AM »
Should I fall out of love, my fire in the light
To chase a feather in the wind?
Within the glow that weaves a cloak of delight
There moves a thread that has no end.

For many hours and days that pass ever soon
The tides have caused the flame to dim
At last the arm is straight, the hand to the loom
Is this to end or just begin?

[Chorus:] All of my love, all of my love, All of my love to you. [repeat]

The cup is raised, the toast is made yet again
One voice is clear above the din
Proud Aryan one word, my will to sustain
For me, the cloth once more to spin

[Chorus]

Yours is the cloth, mine is the hand that sews time
His is the force that lies within
Ours is the fire, all the warmth we can find
He is a feather in the wind

[Chorus]

King Crimson

21 St Century Schizoid Man

Cat's foot iron claw
Neuro-surgeons scream for more
At paranoia's poison door.
Twenty first century schizoid man.

Blood rack barbed wire
Polititians' funeral pyre
Innocents raped with napalm fire
Twenty first century schizoid man.

Money
Get away
You get a good job with more pay and you're okay
Money
It's a gas
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash
New car, caviar, four star daydream
Think I'll buy me a football team

Money
Well, get back
I'm all right Jack
Keep your hands off of my stack
Money
It's a hit
Don't give me that do goody good bullshit
I'm in the high-fidelity first class travelling set
I think I need a Lear jet

Money
It's a crime
Share it fairly
But don't take a slice of my pie
Money
So they say
Is the root of all evil today
But if you ask for a raise
It's no surprise that they're giving none away

Interpol - "Obstacle 2"
« Reply #670 on: November 29, 2010, 12:11:22 PM »
I'm gonna pull you in close
I'm gonna wrap you up tight
I'm gonna play with the braids that you came here with tonight
I'm gonna hold your face and toast the snow that fell
Because friends don't waste wine when there's words to sell

I feel like love is in the kitchen with a culinary eye
I think he's making something special
And I'm smart enough to try
If you don't trust yourself for at least one minute each day
Well you should trust in this, girl, cause loving is coming our way

If you can fix me up, girl, we'll go a long way
If you can fix me up, girl, we'll go a long way

(Take my love in real small doses.)

I will stand by all this drinking if it helps me through these days
It takes a long time just to get this all straight
I'll showcase on Route 7 when I find the right place
It takes a long time just to get this all straight

In my mind, this is my free-time

Because friends don't waste wine when there's words to sell

If you can fix me up, girl, we'll go a long way
If you can fix me up, girl, we'll go a long way

(Take my love in real small doses)

I will stand by all this drinking if it helps me through these days
But I've spent a long time corresponding in my own way
I'll showcase on Route 7 when I find the right place
But it takes a long time just to get this all straight

In my mind, this is my free time...

To let it all away
Spend it all today
Spend it all today
It took time then I found you
It took time then I found you
It took time then I found you
It took time then I found you

that's Interpol?   I will have to check them out.   I always thought they were too trendy for my taste, but those are great lyrics.   I must attend an Interpol show at some point so I can ultimately decide whether they are poseur cheesemongers or not, and whether or not that is good or bad.

Soundtracks of Our Lives--"In Your Veins"
« Reply #672 on: November 29, 2010, 12:48:04 PM »
Trees are falling all around
Silent clouds are on the ground
Someone whispers in your ear
This is what you long to hear

I'm on your side
And I am also blue
Cause I am still a child
And I know that you are too

Pancakes spinning 'round the sun
Flat earth projects has begun
Catwalk on suburban trains
Summer is inside your veins (your veins)

And I am on your side
For  I am also blue
Cause I am still a child
And know that you are too
Yes I am on your side
And I am all so blue
And don't you feel inside, that I still believe in you
I still believe in you

Soundtrack Of Our Lives--"Galaxy Gramaphone"
« Reply #673 on: November 29, 2010, 12:53:45 PM »
Well, I can live my life anytime I want with a Galaxy Gramophone
And I can pitch my soul at any speed I like
Depending what level you're on
In the space between a subconscious track
I'm hung up shakin' hands with myself
As I try make my serial plans through the eye of a storm
To centre of the Milky Way

Well I can pick up a life anywhere I choose
On my Galaxy Gramophone
And I can make it sound so beatiful by scratching in a twilight zone
A rereversal unichorusverse for puppets on a cosmic string
As I pass around a loop through the eye of a storm
To centre of the milky way

Well I can live my life at any speed i like
Depending who's turning me on
As I try to make my way back home through the eye of a storm
To the centre of the milky way
Through the centre of a milky way
To the bottom of the milky way...

Yeah! Never seen 'em live, but have been listening to their 2002 release Turn On The Bright Lights a lot lately...Nevermind how they look (I know what you mean), it's a phenomenal album! I had downloaded some tracks from it years ago, and liked them ok back then, but finally checked out the album in its entirety last week... it's good start to finish!

Here's a good article about it:
