I wanted to add that children should never be placed at facilities that deny reasonable contact between parents and their children. They should not be placed in facilities in states that do not require licensing, like Florida, Missouri, or Utah. They should not be placed in foreign facilities. They should not be placed where the facility owners claim that they can "cure" a child's psychological or behavioral problems.
I just wanted to say that because when parents are looking for a place to put their children, they shouldn't JUST be shocked about abuse allegations. They should also be shocked when there are warning signs like the ones I just talked about.
If your child is in a place and you can't be sure they are okay, THAT is the problem. They should be somewhere close to home where you can drop in unannounced, and where the state checks up regularly.
