RUNAWAY CEDU TEEN STILL MISSING
« on: May 11, 2004, 03:34:00 AM »
There is a 16 year old boy who has run away from a CEDU affiliated school in California. Sounds like his parents are worried sick about their son who has been missing 2 months!

See TAUSA website
http://www.teenadvocatesusa.homestead.c ... .home.html

There is a related news article that says the Twin Peaks Sherrif's station took 18 reports of runaways and 41 calls for service.

Hopefully this boy will be found soon and returned home to his parents.

Sorry, posted the wrong link. Here is the correct one.

http://www.teenadvocatesusa.homestead.c ... Ahome.html

Even though the kid probably doesn't want to be found for fear of being sent back to CEDU or some other program, it sounds like his parents have learned a very hard lesson and just want him to be found safe and returned home.

I hope the kid contacts his parents, safe and sound, *after* his 18th birthday.

I hope the kid is found safe and sound and that his parents take action against the program, with that many runaways and calls to the sherrif's office "for service" (WTH does that mean, anyway?)the school is a nuisance to the community, if not a danger to the residents of the program, itself, which is really the issue.

Second, it is a travesty for a kid to have to take "their chances" living on the streets in order to protect their civil liberties. S. California is hardly an urban paradise but it does have a large population of Chinese Americans and perhaps this boy is getting help from friends and/or relatives without his parent's knowledge.

Whatever happens, I hope other parents wake up and realize these lock-down programs are not the answer to controlling their kid's attitude and behavior.

See TAUSA open letter to California State Senator James L. Brulte.

Former residents of Running Springs and therapists might want to send him an email expressing their thoughts and opinions, as well.
The school is located in his district.

Oftentimes it is necessary for their very mental survival, and it has been going on for a long long time. Check out this quote from the Seed discussion forum, circa 1973......

"being dead was about the best thing I could think of. I thought about how peaceful I'll be. There won't be no more Seed. I can't stand this anymore."

a 16 year old girl, whom had only smoked pot prior to being admitted to The Seed, speaking to Margaret Leonard, times staff writer. The girl had attempted to slash her wrists in the Seed bathroom by hiding a razor in her pants. She broke off the plastic part and cut half her wrist. Her oldcomer was standing outside the stall. Her attempt only cut thru the first layer of skin. The staff told her...
"Don't tell your parents. You know you just did it for attention and your mom's gone thru enough. You don't need to hurt her anymore."

The girl ran from the Seed and lived in the woods near her mother's house for a week, unable to trust her mother enough to go home, fearing she would be placed back in the Seed.

Once she got home, her mother reported to the paper, "It was a mistake." The Girl reported to the paper that she was still confused and found it hard to trust people.

Source... St Pete Times.

I agree with you, Greg.  Just can't help but be angry that any teen should have to be on the run in order to be free.

I also do not like the faith-based schools getting away with abuse in the name of God. Seems like reports are surfacing daily.

It doesn't sound like that to me.  The way I read it, they are still paying CEDU to find him and, presumably, take him back.

Good luck to him.  He will need it.

My sense is the parents are pissed off because of a statement the father made indicating his frustration that CEDU "lost his kid".

Again, if former students and therapists would contact the sheriff's dept., and let them know their thoughts and opinions, that might help defuse the situation??

I hope the kid finds safe shelter somewere.
I know around here, the YMCA operates shelter houses for teens; run aways or kicked out; and they do NOt force the kid to return home or where ever; altho the kid must call home and report their wereabouts; and must attend school and follow basic and reasonable rules to stay there.
Various kinds of counseling and therapy are also available.
I wonder if there is anything like this where he is?
If so, maybe someone could run an add in the local paper suggesting he go there if he needs food and shelter.
Here, many local places are set up as "safe Places" (such as Mc Donalds) were the kid can go and get a meal and they will call the Shelter House to come get the kid.
I hope he has some such resorce available to him.

Was this kid escorted (kidnapped) into CEDU? If so, all trust is gone, which is why his parents have no clue as to where he is.

Parents, don't pay somebody to escort your child.  Do it yourself or don't send the kid at all.

To Karen Burnett (Karen Z.)

Don't even think about posting again to tell us how wonderful your son's escort experience was on his way down to Dundee Ranch because that is just too nauseating for me and I am almost out of Pepto Bismo.

PARIS HILTON'S SECRET TROUBLED PAST

Former classmate tells all

An insider claims Hilton escaped from the troubled teens high school in a limo
YEARS BEFORE her outrageous video sexploits, out-of-control rich kid Paris Hilton was enrolled in a high school for troubled kids -- only to storm out without graduating, reveals an insider.
Breaking his silence for the first time, the source revealed exclusively to The ENQUIRER that the blonde beauty attended CEDU -- a secluded high school in Running Springs, Calif. -- in the summer of 1997 when she was only 16.

She acted like royalty from the time she arrived until she made her escape -- by limousine -- after two months, charges the source, who attended the school with the hotel heiress.

"She was a mess from day one," the insider told The ENQUIRER. "She was such a spoiled brat that the other rich kids were disgusted with her too!

"Paris was admitted into the school partly to help her to stop her abuse of drugs and alcohol, but all she talked about was finding a way to get out.

"She arrived with several bags of designer luggage like she was going to a resort on vacation. She was more concerned about what she was wearing and what shade of makeup to put on rather than talking about her problems."

Stuck-up and in love with her reflection, she threw a fit when she learned she could wear only the jeans, T-shirts and sweatshirts supplied by the facility, divulged the insider.

"But that was nothing compared to the tornado she created when they told her 'absolutely no makeup.'

"Oh, my God! I thought the end of the world was coming the way she reacted to the rules. If Paris wasn't crying, she was angry -- refusing to eat the food or figuring out how to escape.

"Everyone was expected to do assigned chores and to participate in group discussions -- but Paris did nothing, except cry like a baby.

"The staff -- professionally trained to deal with troubled teens -- could not convince this girl to talk about her troubles, and they were very frustrated."

But the hell-raising Hilton was not without a pleasant side, disclosed the insider.

"As difficult as Paris was, she was just as sweet on a one-on-one basis.

"Paris always used 'baby talk' to get her own way. She was very aware of her sensuality -- and knew how to use it on men.

"She gave you that gorgeous smile with her head slightly turned to one side. She always moved her legs suggestively -- and she tried to kiss me on my neck. For Paris, having attention from men was like breathing -- she really needed it to survive!"

The school's programs -- for problem teens of all sorts, not just substance abusers -- can run more than two years. But a fed-up Paris called it quits after just two months, the insider told The ENQUIRER.

"Paris outdid herself when she tried to run away. Instead of actually running away -- she called for a limousine!

"If it wasn't so sad, it would have been hysterical.

"Someone -- in a limousine -- came to pick her up. She immediately dashed for the door and never looked back.

"What's going on with Paris now doesn't surprise me one bit."

Paris, 22, is presently embroiled in a sensational, headline-making scandal over a sexually explicit video.

The tape stars the Hilton beauty giving room service to her former boyfriend Rick Salomon, estranged husband of Shannen Doherty.

Salomon claims the tape was stolen, and footage from the steamy video has hit the Internet -- triggering a male meltdown and a flurry of lawsuits.

Paris Hilton?  Who cares?  So she got laid.  She's a grownup.  What normal grownup hasn't gotten laid?  It's a natural, normal biological function.

Yeah, someone taped it.  Some grownups do that to watch the tape later.  She was probably mortified that the tape got out and has just put as good a face on it as possible.

I repeat, who the hell cares?

Guess what?  Your parents got laid, too.

Sex happens.  Get over it.
