Stick with AA or AA sanctioned facilities (AA won't officially sanction any facility but you can get recommendations from members). AA is free to attend, there's noone trying to scam you for money. I trust their recommendations implicitly.

Stick with programs that are based upon Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). AA is free, there is noone motivated financially in the mix. I was in CEDU a year and a half and went back to drugs immediately upon leaving. I have stayed sober 15 years in AA, and have acheived great success considering where I came from. I would look for a facility that conducts academics, keeps an eye on the students and sends them to AA meetings as therapy unless your child has problems that go beyond just drugs and alcohol. These "schools" that are inventing their own methods of therapy are generally charlatans and I would advise going with the program that is tried and true like Alcoholics Anonymous.

Milestones is a hell hole. They don't transition kids to adulthood, they regress them to childhood in order to soak their parents for as much money as possible.

Try to find one parent who can verify that Milestones fosters independence. If you find one, you have found a lier.

Stay away from the dark, evil clutches of Pam Broker and Mike DiAmico. Stay as far from any CEDU program as you can. They are all blood sucking, money hungry, vampires.

They are a CULT - Repeat CEDU is a cult, CEDU is a cult. Get it? CEDU is a cult. Rocky Mountain Academy, Boulder Creek Academy, Northwest Academy, Milestones - all are cults.

Amen!  I can't believe anyone buys Pam Broker's bullshit.  She is the Jim Baker of CEDU.  She views CEDU as a religion.  It is all very, very sick.

Thanks to Milestones I can now appreciate the solitude of the suicidal mind.  Rather than fix the problem themselves, they WILL drug you up and they WILL send you away until you come back with your tail between your legs begging for their forgiveness as long as they'll take you back from the place that you were previously sent to.  For a split moment Milestones will seem fantastic to most kids who have been sent to other programs, looking for something a little more freeing.  This is the honeymoon period and it will eventually settle in that this peace they promise you will only leave you more alone.
