Is fornits better now that it's moderated?
« on: September 27, 2010, 03:31:59 PM »
Now that the new version of fornits has existed for a little while, I'm interested to hear opinions on whether you think the introduction of moderation and rules has made fornits better, or worse.

I think it's interesting that so far, the only people who have been banned are anti -program posters.

Do you prefer this new version of fornits, or the older, free for all unmoderated version of fornits?

I definitely prefer this version better.  I have found it a little difficult to shake off my old ways of being defensive on one hand and attacking the trolls who were constantly on me.  Being constantly attacked and having people trying to figure out my identity and expose it changed the way I interacted here on fornits.  The whole John Reuben thing was getting pretty intense there for awhile and the desperation to bring it to closure was making DJ a little crazy.

Now that the rules have changed Dysfunction Junction’s attacks have subsided and RobertBruce has been mostly confined to the “OFFA” forum.

Bottom line is that it has forced people to be more cordial to one another which lays the ground work for a healthier conversation and makes it safer for people to open up.  I am hoping that we start to see more program parents and kids who had good experiences join the forum and stick around for more than a day or 2.  This would balance out the conversations here.

Well, well, well now SUCKIT you have ventured into this free for all section and are now subject to My Rules! First of all, I have decreed that this area of Fornits remain unmoderated and free from the limitations imposed in other areas. That was my wish and the mods had no choice other than to go along with it. They were POWERLESS to stop me. I am in control! My benevolence is well known here and I expect your adulation. The rules will remain in place until I choose to have them altered.
Now I want you to crawl back inside my head and stay there until I need you. Its ok when you emerge at the AA meetings to help me recruit minions but I want you to stop your ridiculous behavior here on Fornits. It is embarrasing to admit that you are actually me! You are such a vile despicable part of me, coming here to torment these poor abused souls when you should be at the AA meets recruiting soul-slaves for the afterlife. Stay between my ears until I call for you! STFU!

What was the moderation supposed to accomplish? I wasn't online during the period of time when said decision was made, so I have no clue what prompted this...

My guess would be to bring some credibility to this forum, and make it appear safe to post here to parents, namely those who are thinking of sending their kids away to programs. When you have posters threatening and posting personal details about parents, and making websites about them on porn sites with pictures of the family and everything, it doesn't exactly seem like this is a safe place for parents to come and ask for advice about what to do with their troubled teen.

I think it had good intentions, but has ended up doing the opposite of what was intended. I like the idea of preventing alts, but it seems to quash the idea of freedom of speech.

I thought that experiment resulted in troubled-teen-industry.com. Why try to repeat it here?

I agree. Moreover, at least two regular posters appear to have been banned, perhaps temporarily, but they haven't bothered to return, at least as of yet.

I don't see the moderation worth bitching over. (Sorry to agree with Max.)

Note to self: Agree with Max (or at least pretend to) a little more often.

I agree, but the "no holds barred" atmosphere is worth it when you need to just get something off your chest.

Its like a biker bar with a cover charge.
