OK, so I did a lil research, and there were originally 17 broadcast episodes, but one was not shown on American TV. CBS network execs said that the reason was because of a depiction of drug use. However, CBS had aired several other episodes that depicted drug use. The real reason, according to some, is that the episode was an allegory for resisting the draft and refusing service in the military, specifically the Vietnam War, which was raging at the time.

I think as survivors of Straight, we can see many of the themes explored in the series from a more knowledgeable perspective than many viewers would ordinarily possess. "The Prisoner" is as good as TV gets.
