Not a bad idea, DF.  I think maybe a candlelight vigil with the names of many of the deceased victims read and a moment of silence for each.  If it is done with dignity and composure, this could be a good opportunity to help in our own healing and to memorialize those victims who no longer number among the living.

I tend to agree, save the party for afterwards, a memorial service ain't the place for drunken revelry (unless it's Miller Newton's funeral).

If you're serious keep us posted on what date you're looking at this fall.  I've often thought about driving down south again simply to drive by that place.

More "appropriate" for there not to be hooch at a funeral-like event?? ::cheers::

Hey DF I would be intrested even though I was held captive in the "Atlanta" concentration camp. My old druggie girlfriend was sent there as well and when she got out she was killed in a car wreck. She got out and used drugs harder than she did before she went in...(Was making up for lost time or tried to mask the pain). She was in for about 9 months and her parents wised up and withdrew her. I was there much longer.

It was a sad thing that both of us being like we were before straight and during the time we were there we were not allowed to look at each other not to mention even talk to each other. After our time in straight we did not talk or associate. I was told about a month after her funeral she had died by one of our mutual friends.

So yes I would make the time and arrangements to go to a candlelight vigil for the fallen as well as the ones who may never heal emotionally from the hell we endured.

It will be this fall, and I am inviting the press and anyone else interested.

We are still in the brainstorming phase if you have any ideas.

My idea is to perform a ceremony for our own personal healing and to call attention to the fact that we ARE healing from a very real and ongoing disaster.

If I see Mike Sherman or Samantha "Montel" Monroe or Chris Tyler there, then I will turn right around and go home.
As a matter of fact, the only ones you will see there are Mike Sherman,Samantha "Montel" Monroe and Chris Tyler!
