I've seen him a couple of times and he definitely puts on a great show. Saw him open for Bonnie Raitt in Santa Barbara in '89, and in St. Petersburg (at the old Club Detroit) in 1990. A tremendously underrated guitarist.
Goddam right... I didn't know you had seen him!

Do you have any of his albums right now? Just curious, I've been wanting to hear more stuff by him since the other night, and there are so many!

Were the sets you saw electric or acoustic?

He played acoustic both times I saw him, I forget exactly what model guitar he was using, but I'm thinking it was a Martin, maybe.  I don't have anything by him right now, but I can recommend an album he did with Henry Kaiser, Fred Frith, and some other guy a while back.....French, Frith, Kaiser and Thompson--"Invisible Means".  I also really like the song he did with his ex-wife, Linda, "I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight".  He has another one with her called "Did She Fall Or Was She Pushed?" that's good, too.  I'm not really all that into Fairport Convention, but you can check them out to hear some of his earlier stuff.

Richard Thompson:

If you would have justice in this world, then begin to see that a human being is not a means to some end.  People are not commodities.  When human beings are just to one another government becomes obsolete and real freedom is born; SPIRITUAL ANARCHY.

Yeah, and he played "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" the other night as well...

I tell ya, I really have to hear some more RT, and soon. It seems like he is at his best in a live setting, so (since I probably can't go on the road with him) I'm glad he's released some live recordings I can check out...

Hmm, I’m going to try this oft mentioned Wilco’s sound out at some point.
When you do, try listening to A Ghost Is Born first; nothing they've released since compares.
Froderick: Tried it and I liked it. Very silky.
This (below) made it a two xanax night, or maybe it already was and it wasn’t so bad.
