wow... this new horizons is such crap...
« on: November 13, 2005, 10:38:00 PM »
the thread on caroline (jenny) kind of got me curious as to what bullshit was being presented to the parents, and to the world.... the first flag that was raised was the tuition...

New Horizons for Young Women admission cost is $428.00 per day.
There is a minimum length of stay of 42 days and any extensions are in seven-day increments.

6 weeks tuition $17,976
7 weeks tuition $20,972
8 weeks tuition $23,968
9 weeks tuition $26,964

the second flag that was raised to me, was the same line that was fed to us at the cedu schools:

"New Horizons isn't a program for "fixing" your daughter. She is not broken."

The third flag that was raised to me were the mini propheets that they put the girls through... 5 in total (which in a six week period, would completely mess up a girl for life.

"Truth
We encourage each girl to

Share her personal story
Face her negative self-image
Learn how to communicate her emotions positively and negatively
Examine the excuses and lies she has created for herself

Friendship
We encourage each girl to learn

About the qualities of healthy relationships
How to give and receive guidance and set boundaries
How to gain a sense of accountability and self-worth
How to establish more positive social behaviors and attitudes

Forgiveness
We encourage each girl to

Take responsibility for and understand any unhealthy choices she has made
Stop playing the "blame game"
Accept that parents are human too
Turn past failures into practical wisdom

Acceptance
We encourage each girl to

Stop negative, self-destructive ways of thinking
Connect with her femininity and power
Establish a new, positive connection with family
Understand and accept both her strengths and weaknesses

Passage
We encourage each girl to

Plan how she will begin to use her strengths in a healthy manner
Formulate a strategy for overcoming setbacks
Use new skills to cope with upcoming challenges
Take the steps needed to transition into a responsible and powerful young woman."

does this raise flags for anyone else out there?

Well, Jackie was always pro-RMA, (in terms of how it was structured in the 80s. She didn't like how it changed.) so it doesn't surprise me. I guess the good news is that the girls only have to be there for nine weeks, instead of two years. Although when I looked at their website a while ago, I found no definitive information as to whether Caroline was working there anymore. She wasn't listed on the faculty page.

there has got to be a way to find out where carolne nee jenny wolfe/eide is.

it would be valuable information.

i feel personal suits might be the only way to make these monsters "accountable" for their actions.

man, she pisses me off.

then there are people who i would like to actually have conversations with now. i think these places owe it to all of us to print out the names and dates of enrollment/employment for all students and staff memebers.
It is the only way to settle once and for all WHAT IT DID.
We could see the different trends based on genre, administration and specific staff members.

i mean, if there is an unusally high amount of suicides and really fucked up failed lives from a specific year or two...then there would be consistant room for analysis of specific impacts.

Life is a very wonderful thing.\' said Dr. Branom... \'The processes of life, the make- up of the human organism, who can fully understand these miracles?... What is happening to you now is what should happen to any normal healthy human organism...You are being made sane, you are being made healthy.
\'That I will not have, \' I said, \'nor can understand at all. What you\'ve been doing is to make me feel very very ill.\'

well, speaking for myself... I'd much rather simply let it all go and move on.

Caroline has not worked for New Horizons from the very beginning. I heard that she and Jackie started out as partners, but it did not work out for whatever reasons.

I don't think that the New Horizons program is really anything like RMA was. RMA was more of a punitive program... I don't think this one is.

I dont think that most of the programs out there these days are as punitive as the CEDU schools were when I was there in the mid- 80s. Maybe I am wrong.... I have not been to one in 20 years.

Things have not changed...still lots of abuse. These abusive progams have just grown since the 80s. That's the only diffference.
