More wonderful therapy in the form of learning to tolerate bullshit and unplesantness of various degrees brought to you by the industry :wstupid:

Harmlessly passing your time in the grasslands away;
Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air.
you better watchout,
there may be dogs about.
I've looked over Jordan, and have seen.
Things are not what they seem.

neh i went to suws, in feb of 2000, it wasent a horrible place, the counselors varied.Didnt do shit for me except help me realize how much i like backpacking :smile: so in that sense i appreciate it. Got sent to cascade after and got pulled after a year. I def would have to say neither place i went is nearly as bad as the places i read about on here. Although i doubt i would sent my kid away to school if i had one. Like others have said, he would be stuck on a wilderness trip with dad for a month instead ahah

Ok... is "it wasnt so bad, and I like backpacking" somehow justification for forcing children in with escorts and paying thousands and thousands of dollars a month, and claiming its somehow going to fix this, that, and the other?

I dont think so. "Its not that bad" does not mean its somehow good. Kind of sad to know the best someone can say of it is "its not horrible" and "counselors varied" as well as the best line of all:

"Didnt do shit for me".

A few weeks in the woods isnt going to hurt anyone and it can be a great experience for some.  I don?t advocate hog tying anyone, doesn?t have to be that way.  Saying ?it is not that bad? is a response to many posts you may have read here, doesn?t mean it is better than Disney world either,  It is a relative statement, I think many read too much into it, anyway SUWS (Therapeutic wilderness camp) is an excellent place to stabilize some children. They can also have someone perform an evaluation while they are there. Your child would be in safe hands for a few weeks until you can determine their next step and stabilize your household.

Its not for everyone, we were there with 12 other people none of which were kidnapped or tied up, they involve the parents as a transition towards the end which is interesting.

i had chronic, persistent back pain with occasional spasms for five years after SUWS Idaho.  it was from carrying the 50lb pack with everything rolled into a plastic sheet.  after two weeks we earned the right to use a metal frame for support but by then the damage was already done.
but the brainwashing at the behavoir-mod school was far worse than anything at SUWS.

After paying for SUWS there isn't any money left to nip off to Europe.
