I remember it being an election day so there was only a blurb about the crash on the news. Rolloff died Nov 2, 1982.
As far as sexual abuse in the homes, I never saw it (1970-1973). But because people were put in charge who were not supervised in any way, I don't doubt some very bad things happened in some of the homes. Especially after Roloff's death.
Cullodin was 'spooky' and quiet when I visited. There was an old antebellum mansion and I slept in the same room Gen Robert E. Lee had once slept in. Whipporwhills hooted all night and there were quiet watchful eyes everywhere.
Never could put my finger on what bothered me, but it just felt eerie and too peaceful. I remember mostly men staying there, but nobody spoke.
