i was there for like nine months what you wanta to know. ive read alot of the so called "horror stories" that kids tell, and i kow there true. bucket showers. no running or hot  water, cabbage rice and beans only, when your in op. kids gettin beat up by staff. i saw a lil 14 year old kid get 4 teeth knocked out when a staff punched him. lizards on the walls crabs crawlin down the halls. cock roaches. lyin on the concrete floor face down for 10 hours at a time (and getting restrained/tourtured for falling asleep). horrible food rations, weight gainer. (i know it was weight gainer, i used to take like 3 glasses every meal and i gained 40 lbs there, lost it my first 2 months home. you had to drink out of the same bottle you use to bath yourself. washin your own clothes by hand in the same buckets everybody has showered wit. NO MEDICAL ATTENTION AT ALL. verbal rapings, brain washing, touchy feely seminars. it was like being locked in a cult in a but in a 3rd world country.  with none of the luxuries and no one in your life that belives you that you being tourtured. (cause the staff say your lying using "scandolous manipulation) FUCK THE PROGRAM, FUCK JAY KAY, FUCK JAMACIA. just another chapter in my life

HONROR FAMILY 02' HOLLA

p.s. i was in cross creek before i got kicked out and sent to TB. cross creek is a cake walk with air conditioning! fuck anyone who tells you that shit was hard.

That about sums it up. Thank you Dan. Please keep telling your story, it is a important one to hear. For those of you out there who are non-believers......you're in denial. TB is god awful, and parents who send there kids there........not only do I hope you die a slow painful death......but kiss your relationship goodbye with your child. Very rarely am I this mean.......but I cannot stand the fact this place is still permitted to run the way it does. It's crazy, and when you tell the story people don't believe you because it's so messed up, surely somebody would step in and put there foot down? Nope, they haven't. Nope, there is a good chance they never will, and for all you parents who get suckered by the glossy brochures, shame on you.

And to Dan.........I know I had it way easier then you buddy. I was in CCM back in 89-90. They threatened to send me to a wilderness camp where I would never be heard from. I ran, I made it. Had TB been in place......guess where I would have been? Stuck there, probably killing myself. Where am I today? After my Aunt, and Uncle rescued me when I turned 17 in St. George they gave me a real loving home, and I was able to be part of a healthy family. I now am married, and have everything I want in life. But, it was not an easy road. People never believe me either what I went through. I went in when I was 12 to Heritage School, in Provo Utah I spent 3 1/2 years there, and then was transfered to Cross Creek Manor where I spent 9 more months. I feel your pain, and wish you all the best.

What kind of parental response do you expect? They must, by definition, fall in one of these categories:

1. Denial
2. Acceptance of the truth, coupled with guilt & shame that they have been suckered into paying lots of money to have thier child abused rather than helped.
3. Acceptance of the truth, coupled with feelings of satisfaction that the abuse their child suffered was somehow "good" for him or her, that it straightened them out or whatever.

I can still have some empathy for parents in categories 1 & 2. Denial is a perfectly normal response to something so horrible that the mind is unprepared to deal with it. Guilt & shame is also something I can accept and would expect from a decent human being who made a terrible mistake that harmed a loved one when the intent was to help the loved one.

It is the 3rd group -- those who are "happy customers" -- that are the most disturbing. Those parents are either child abusers who simply paid someone else to do their dirty work for them, or they are sociopaths who are incapable of feeling empathy for another human being, not even their own flesh and blood.

A list of satisfied TB customers (parents, that is) is a list that should be on the FBI's or Homeland Security's 'watch list'. These are very disturbed and dangerous people.

most of the kids won't respond because that would indicate a "disrespect for authority"  by which i mean disagreeing with their parents which is what got most of them put in there to begin with.
