No laws for AARC
« on: October 12, 2007, 07:38:05 PM »
A recent complaint to the Service Ministry about AARC being in violation of the Services Act was met with a bizarre response recently.  The Act prohibits a Society organizing primarily to conduct a business or carry on a trade.  The prime function of AARC is to operate their treatment centre.  They charge $150 per day per client, $160 out of province.  The response from the Service ministry stated that they do not mediate internal disputes.  Apparently, it is up to AARC to decide whether or not to abide by the Act; an internal matter and of no concern of the Ministry.
AARC is an outlaw church.

I talked to a social worker friend of mine from Edmonton, she said that locking kids up voilated the societies act as well.

I talked to a social worker in Edmonton, too.  He asked me questions about what had been tried, what reports had been made.  he was quite incredulous that despite the reports, nothing had been done.
