Who remembers that Tallent Show act? It was the shit! I guess it was the only time I've ever felt like a normal teenager while in Elan.

Hey Marina!
Its' Kate B.  I tried to email you a couple times, but this seems to be the only place you ever come to consistently.  So I finally gave in and took the time to register on here so I can keep more in touch with you and other old friends.
I definitely remember that talent show!  It was so much fun!!!  I remember getting Goosebumps because it was the loudest and most wonderful sound I had heard in so long.  Plus, the only time we really got to listen to music was when we were on the post, (actually, I should say the only time we got to ENJOY our music) but even on the post, you had someone whining for you to turn down your music like every ten minutes.  So, I will definitely agree with you that it was one of the most memorable and fun experiences at elan for me too!

Hey Katie! It's so nice to hear from you. I've recently heard from ppl I haven't talked to in a long, long time: Jessica Alcorn and Valerie Martinez. They are both doing pretty well. Dude, I miss you guys so fucking much. As soon as I graduate, I promise you that I'll fly to the States at the first chance I get. We've got so much catching up to do. I meant to e-mail you sooner but I wanted to take my time to write something insighful.

Back to the Tallent Show, that was the only thing that I used to look forwards to besides visits and trips. It was so much fun! I remember some really fucking awesome female singers, like Amanda Moore, Andrea Schweager, Gena Ross and Kate Birney (yes, you're on the list). The "Spam act" was really funny and so were some performances by Ellis Harris and Justin Ashcroft. Dude, they used to make me laugh! (Don't tell Ellis I said that 'cause we used to hate each other up until my graduation). How about you guys, do you happen to have any specific memories of the Tallent Shows that you might wanna share with us?

   Peace!

ther were a couple talent shows that stuck out in my mind.  i thought hotel cali and the devil went down to georgia.  i also remember people allways got shot down in 3 for something the did.  like this kid mike got shot down for humping the floor if frount of tania.  that was funny as shit

I remember that act.  There was some Jerky Boys dialogue in it.  It was funny -- they shouldn't have shot 'em down.  Fucking Marty.

I remember that too, I was a new resident in 96 or 97, but was in 8. I think Peter is referring to a different act, because I wasn't in the house with him.

I always thought that the talent shows were half humiliating and half genuine fun. i really hated how pete would rope you into his acts, and they were the dumbest acts ever. They would tell us to learn a song, and then not give us any time to practice so we would go on looking like fools. Hiram was the only person who ever cared about giving us practice time, and the song turned out really good. But after hiram left we got no time to practice. I always watched acts like hotel cal. and such with admiration, for a while i wanted a house switch because of the lack of encouragement we got musically. The fact that they knew we wanted to play music was hung over our heads. they would use it to keep us in line, if the house wasn't sparkling no talent show practice, if there was a problem person, no talent show practice. It was cool that we even had them though. Don't even get me started on the winter carnival. that was pure torture, for me at least. just my two cents
