Why are you asking?  Have you called them to find out what they are about. I know they help alot of people, both parents and kids to know their rights regarding residential and group home care.  Providers as a whole don't like them because they believe that better educated consumers bring better end results, but they are right (PFRR) parents and the kids being serviced have a right to know and have rights.  Until they came along no one was speaking up for this population at all.

I just browsed that site, and it is about time frankly that someone was telling parents the truth.  I found out a lot that programs need to be licensed in Massachusetts and where to find out, there are standards of care, and education like nowhere else in residential schools there, that they don't have RTC's that are paid by Medicaid or insurance, that the school systems and other state agencies pay or private pay.  And that some of the more "popular programs" that parents send their kids to in MA are not appropriatly licensed.  I like the PFRR site, I am calling them today to get more information.  It is great parents and others (including kids if need be) have a place to call and can find out their rights.  I also joined their list serve since I don't live in MA I joined the national one you can do it from the site.  Thanks for posting the site.  I am also curious as to why the original question was asked about PFRR?

thank God they need to be liscensed in Mass. but that doesn't mean that the bad ones don't still get through.

Straight was in Mass and it took a while to get yanked but it did and I am thankful for that. Credit where credit is due.

This is important is all those states where the legal consent age is so damn high

or those who understand, no explanation is necessary; for those who don\'t, none will do
