Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Are there any RUSH fans still out there?
« on: February 27, 2004, 12:42:00 PM »
My guys have been playing for years.  Our drummer has been playing for over 40 years and has been in other original bands that have toured Europe.

The guitarist toured the world with Joe Jackson and Marshall Crenshaw and was just written up in a national magazine for his abilities to restore old guitars and string instruments.

While they are a cover band they are all extremely talented and it is quite a treat for any RUSH fan to see them play.

Our next show at the Wreck Room in Wallington will be promoted by 105.5 WDHA and we will be having an air drummer contest.  The winner of which will get a pair of tickets to RUSH in August!

See you guys on Saturday, Feb 28th!

My band is playing (Hemispheres-RUSH Tribute) this Saturday night at ANG-E B's in Elmwood Park at 401 Boulevard.  It would be great to see anyone there.  They come on at 10:30pm.  Just ask for their manager Jeff and I'll take care of you!

Our drummer has been playing for over 40 years and started playing at the ripe young age of 2.  He is very talented and actually gives some of the pros a run for their money.

If anyone is interested, we are playing next at County Line Pub in West Caldwell, NJ on December 12 and then at ANG-e B's in Elmwood Park, NJ on December 20.

Would love for you all to be there.

We played last night at ANG-E B's in Elmwood Park and had a great show!  The crowd was wild and they had a great time.

We are playing next on December 12 at The County Line Pub and then again at ANG-E B's on December 20th.  Our big date is for January 23rd at the Wreck Room in Wallington.

About a year ago there were a bunch of RUSH fans on the board.  I have recently accepted a position as Business Manager for a RUSH Tribute Band playing in New Jersey known as Hemispheres.

If anyone is interested in RUSH or seeing a great tribute band, then please e-mail me at [email protected].  Thanks again.

Yes, it was my mother with the unique and one of a kind hairdue.  She did pass away last year from a catastrophic stroke.  She was also the lady who made cookies for everyone who ran home in open meeting.

Hey Tricia!

It was great to talk with & meet you about 18 months ago.  I still want to thank you for the introduction to your counterpart at work!

My best memory of you was watching Ford Fairlane in your parent's basement when I was homeless and kicked out of my house.  You were always a blast!

Congrats on the family and best of luck in all you do!

Yeah, I may have a plate that is too full as well; however, I don't think it would require anywhere near as much maintenance as the KIDS BBS.

Even if it just myself Sam and (?) - you never did reveal your identity- but I think we could have a blast and "drag the dream into existence!"

Red Sector A, while having obvious and blatant ties to the holocaust,I think serves as a warning of where we can be in the future if people choose not to think for themselves.  When we act like sheep being led without question, opinion or challenge, we create a breeding ground for authoritarian assholes to create that type of sick enviroment (also like 2112).  One where there is no sense of self, identity or opinion.

In the spirit of free thinking I propose that we get the heck away from this ongoing soap opera of, the graduate life...  It almost embarrasses me that I have to quote RUSH lyrics on a post that began as an announcement to Drew & Jackie.  From now on, I will stay away from having to quote RUSH in the presence of these humanoids and androids (The Body Electric).

2112 -

"The sleep is still in my eyes
The dream is still in my head
I heave a sigh, and sadly smile
And lie awhile in bed

I wish that it might come to pass
Not Fade like all my dreams
Just think of what my life might be
In a world like I have seen

I don't think I can carry on
This cold and empty life
My spirits are low, in the depths of depair
My lifeblood
Spills over..."

NO NO NO!!!  I am not talking about trying to kill myself.  Everybody put your phones down and stop dialing 9-1-1!  Nor am I out of control with the drug problem I never had and am now considering self-mutilation as a hobby.

Actually, there is a strange parallel here...

Those who knew me in the program, knew that  after being on 1st phase for most of 4-1/2 years I got suicidal.  Some do not know, but the doctor diagnosed me as absolutely crazy the night before I signed out!  He told me I was swinging from tree to tree and needed to be in KIDS indefinately.

Mrs. Newton (yeah, Ruth Ann) who knew so much about this type of condition, told me when I signed out, that I may kill myself in 30 days after leaving.

Well, in there my spirits were as low as they ever have been, in the depths of despair - but because I couldn't any longer feel alive in a place of death.  The death was of the individual that drives me everyday.  That individuality and ability to think for myself could not live and prosper in that type of enviroment.

When I left, and began to persue my dreams and live in a world (like I had seen), my spirits were again elevated and I have found the answers to the questions that in there, they had no answers and would not even acknowledge as questions.

Anyhow, lets start that board!

Being an obvious RUSH fan, I think that it would be a great idea to see if there is any interest in starting a RUSH bbs or room or chat spot or something.

I hate the idea that I have to post under the Drew/Jackie crap to correspond with fellow RUSH-ians.  More than just loving their music, please understand that their lyrics are purely inspirational and focus on preserving your dreams reagrdless of adversity.  They talk about the importance of experiencing to extremes what life has to offer.  All of these things are positive messages that keep me focused on life today and aiming for the targets in my life (my dreams).

If anyone thinks its a cool idea, please either post here or e-mail me at [email protected]

Anonymous (you must know your RUSH...):

I do see what you have trying to convey to me from a different standpoint.  I posted previously that if anyone feels a need to erase, delete or destroy my post, that I have no objections.

Your point about time better spent is well taken (it does take me some time to process), but I guess life is constant trial & errors.  I am just tryning to learn from the errors so I don't lose as many trials in the future as I did in the past.

Personally, I still beleive that what has been done is not just wrong, but perverse.  I am entitled to my opinion (and I don't need to sell anyone on it).  It is grotesque, the crimes against young human beings that are being committed.  Unfortunately, the world is imperfect and other than be true to myself & what I beleive.

THE WEAPON - Part II of fear

"Can any part of life - be larger than life?
Even love must be limited by time
And those who push us down that they might climb
Is any killer worth more than his crime?

Like a steely blade in a silken sheath
We don't see what they're made of
They shout about love, but when push comes to shove
They live for things they're afraid of

And the knowledge that they fear
Is a weapon to be used against them..."

That about sums it up for me and who they are, what they say and what makes them act the way they do.  At the same time it tells me what our best weapon against them is...    THE TRUTH (that they insistently try to hide from).

Yeah, I think we should get a more recent photo of him, showing the old man who is beaten down from heart trouble, bankruptcy, lawsuits and stress.

To use a picture of him taken in the 1980's when he was high on the hog, only goes to create an image of him that reflects stregnth, power and success.

None of those apply now.  He is weakened, has little to no power and is the perfect example of someone who has ultimately failed at everything he has attempted.  Politics, rehab, priesthood and most of all he has failed to allow himself the ability to see the truth.  Without hiding behind his justifications, lies and false pride, he would crumble like a cookie.

Those defense mechanisms are the only thing that hold him together.  Talk about "THE ENEMY WITHIN"  he is his own jailer but more importantly he is his own prisoner.  That must suck.  The best part is that he will NEVER know freedom as some of us do.  He will always live trapped inside his self-created prison.

Do away with the picture and get me something recent.  He is a miserable old man who poses no threat to anyone except those who let him into their minds.
