I like the Ravens, even though they are my division rival and they bled us out twice this year.  They're pretty tough.  And they finally have a solid offense.  And I have loyalty to my division.  I told my buddy Griz that I thought the Ravens might take it all and he got real ornery real quick.    That's kinda how he got his name anyway.  I'll take the Ravens against the Colts.

I like San Diego too.  I lived there in the early 80s when we had Dan Fouts and Kellen Winslow.  Tomlinsons Bad.

Colts vs. Baltimore.  It's been 23 years since the Colts left Baltimore....time for revenge!  I hope the Ravens pummel them!

I went to 5515 Backlick & spoke with both the Sales Mgr & Branch Mgr (Ferguson has many locations across the country).  Anywho - they both said that it would be fine for us to have a memorial/vigil/whatever to remember those we've lost and those of us still surviving.  The only thing they were worried about was that we do it when their business is closed, which I don't think will be an issue since they close at 5pm M-F & 3pm on Sat.

I have to say it was rather strange walking into that place.  While the showroom (front office/lobby) looks totally different, I was still able to see the way that it use to be; where the front desk was, where the runner use to sit, where the 2 conference rooms use to be, the hallway into the carpet room.  I know in my mind that the smell has changed, but I could still catch whiffs of the way it use to smell.  They didn't want to let me walk behind the showroom (I wanted to see the hallway to the intake rooms, or where the messine? (sp?) use to be; morbid curiosity I guess).  I guess it would have been a liability or something.

It was strange pulling into the parking lot; the wall for the carpet room now has windows.  There is a driveway to the back of the building next to the loading dock where the pond use to be.  I could barely see the back parking lot from all the trees in the way.  It looks like it's now a grass covered field, though I couldn't really be sure.  Hardees is now a McD's.  The Shell is still next door, and the other gas station is still across the street.  I don't know why I thought that perhaps it would have changed more.  Perhaps wishful thinking.

I can't remember the last time my heart was pounding so hard.  I think it was probably the 1st time I drove on a race track wondering if I was going to have the time of my life or die.

That was a cool recount of your visit to the ol' facility.  It also answered my question as to whether Hardees was still accross the street.

Keep us updated...I'd like to come by.  I wonder if Hardees is still across the street?

If you're serious keep us posted on what date you're looking at this fall.  I've often thought about driving down south again simply to drive by that place.

I'm from Straight in Springfield, VA.  I can relate to withdraw part of your story.  I know when my parent's withdrew me from the program I had them park the car accross the street (at Hardees), because I was paranoid about people coming out to bring me back in.  I knew nobody could come and get me if we weren't on their property.  I didn't go in with my parent's to the withdraw meeting....too nervous.

Clockwise, 1,2,3,4 and, at the bottom, 5th phase. Who the hell ever did an MI after graduation? What's yours mean?

When I started as a federal narcotics agent, the budget that we were working with, it was less than $5 million a year, and there was only 125 agents for the entire world to work the narcotic trade that we were fighting in those days.  Times have changed.  The gluttony has grown.

On my first night I punched my oldcomer in the mouth.  The braces he was wearing kind of got in the way of his lip.  Honestly though this guy was quite big and most likely could have kicked my butt if he felt like it.

OK....the story is true...though it's amazing that it laid there so long without being discovered.  I believe had I been on 5th phase I'd would have done the same thing.  If you had admitted it was yours you defintately would have been started over, versus dropped a phase....at least at the straight I went to.

One question...what straight did you go to?  We dind't have couches in our (Springfield) intake rooms.  At least not while I was there.

Good deal (I read your post).  Way to dot that 5th phaser's eye.  He must have felt empowered by the staffer's remark enough to say what he did.

I got there toward the end of '86, so I must have missed the dude who headbutted the wall.  I would not have forgotten that.
I remember a 'carpet room' rap (sometime in '87) where this dude turned around and clocked this other guy right below the eye.  He must have hit a vessel because the recipient was bleeding quite a bit.  I think the 'punchee' was attempting to get the 'puncher' to sit up striaght.  Not to say that he deserved it, but he was a little sissy messing with a rather disgruntled "patient" at the time.

I think Iron Maiden rocks.  I actually listen to them rather often.  Ozzy definately has some dynamite songs too, even though I think he's an idiot.
Iron Maiden's dumb move was to choose an Ozzfest concert to dog him...what did they think Sharon would do?

Now that you mentioned it I remember that night.  I'd been there a couple of months at that point.  I remember thinking this is good, then started to smell a rat.  Damn mind games.
