Lets just take some of the lazy bastards on welfare and put them to work in these menial jobs that nobody seems to want, then we will take care of 2 problems, putting deadbeats to work therefore lessening the taxpayer burden, and forcing illegal aliens to look elsewhere for a free ride.

"The FARC is part of the history of Colombia and a historical phenomenon", (President Pastrana) says, "and they must be treated as Colombians". ... They come and ask for bread [aid from Washington], and you give them stones.

Buried deep in the new law is Sec. 113, an innocuously titled bit called "Preventing Cyberstalking." It rewrites existing telephone harassment law to prohibit anyone from using the Internet "without disclosing his identity and with intent to annoy."

I wondered why a certain somebody been quiet here recently. :scared:

the war on drugs is but one manifestation, albeit a very dramatic one, of the great moral contests of our age -- the struggle between two diametrically opposed images of man: between man as responsible moral agent, 'condemned' to freedom, benefiting and suffering from the consequences of his actions; and man as irresponsible child, unfit for freedom, 'protected' from its risks by agents of the omnicompetent state.

Now those questions are amusing. Good way to start a gloomy Monday.

To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them...

I would direct your attention to several other web sites- http://www.hlaboards.com and http://www.discusshla.com. These websites are designed to present an honest view of HLA. They are designed for parents, students and alumni to communicate in an honest and genuine way. I hope you find these resources helpful.

Oh ya they are real helpful to advocate with...1 site is under construction and the other averages 2 posts a day. Guess even they admit not many good things can be said about their program. He's probably wondering how the captain of the Titanic felt.

Our nada who art in nada, nada be thy name. Thy kingdom nada, thy will be nada as it is in nada. Give us this nada our daily nada and nada us our nada as we nada our nadas and nada us into nada but deliver us from nada; pues nada. Hail nothing full of nothing, nothing is with thee.

In the substance abuse field they exist because they are more profitable. I've seen adolescent contracts that programs are paid 3 times higher the amount for adult programs.

Didn't I see somewhere that Judge Stone is retiring? Wonder if that has anything to do with the halt to their tactics?

Anybody remember that song "Their coming to take me away ha-ha". This thread is straight out of Dr. ::bangin::  Demento.

Keep studying OL...more will be revealed. Word of caution though...when speaking about moral judgements one must understand that what may be a moral value to one person may not be to another so to avoid conflict in this field never try to force your morals on others.

As a rule, children love their parents, believe what they teach, and take great pride in saying that the religion of mother is good enough for them.

Most of the Counselors working there only have a GED. Hell, I heard that one of the Directors was a prostitute!!!"

Wow let me see where I can start with this one. Would you rather be treated by some " Masters" level therapist who doesn't have a clue what a craving feels like? Or someone that knows exactly how you feel? And like I've said before in this forum, people change...what difference does it make what a person was involved in before treatment? Now as far as that counselor being drunk and fighting in bars talking about clients that is a whole different matter. Contact the New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services at 1-800-553-5790 to report this unethical behavior.

Was anyone else outraged that one of those emails said they accepted a kid that was diagnosed with pedophillia yet was allowed to live with unsuspecting kids? I mean WTF is wrong with these people???? Did they notify anyone that a sexual predator was living there? Since they aren't a treatment program I'd assume they have an obligation to the community both legally and morally. Or did they lock this kid up in a box and hope nobody would ever find out?

From the bottom of any large organization looking up through the ranks, human greed and stupidity look a lot like a conspiracy.

You really can't blame her for that response. My suggestion would for the anon who said they opened mail written by the lawyer to file a formal complaint with the postal inspector. Once they have a specific complaint it will be investigated. I believe tampering with communications between a lawyer and client is a felony, I may be mistaken, but I know its a serious offense.

I believe that human beings arrive on this Earth wanting to know absolutely everything, and the best thing we can do as parents is to get out of the way -- just be there to let them know what opportunities are there

It doesn't matter, it is settled law. Molina v. Williams says it all. What HLA is doing is unconstitutional and there is no way around it.

Unless they are now also claiming to be a correctional facility nobody can open another person's mail without a federal search warrant. Oh and you can't force someone to sign one of those neat little consent to open forms either as a lot of these programs do as a requirement for acceptance into their program. Complaints can be made to the local post inspector or a report may be filed online at:
