Hmm, that's weird. After my feeble attempt at achieving a bachelors degree in rocket science, on third phase thru 7th stepping, I was referred to a girls side MOM who was a real estate agent. She, of course, was in charge of new properties. Well, I fell for the laborer job she offered. I had to pick up my paycheck at some older guy's house. Come to find out, the guy (a builder) I was supposedly going to be paid by had an apparent fallout with his boyfriend one day. They were fighting on his porch in their bathrobes,  :smokin:

Hi Bob, I always say my first name and that's it! When I say my last one, its like, "what did you say? How do you spell that? Is that with an E or R or U?"  :smokin:

The parent, in this case, personally requested the presence of ISAC representatives while traveling in Mexico.

It took me about 3 days of nonstop being awake and another couple months of "I just remembered" to maintain an even keel so to speak with regards to the straight inc experience. I knew something was wrong when I realized that I had been in that place 20 years PRIOR, and was remembering things as clear as day. Dreams didnt kick in till a few months ago though. I have had a couple, but they are of me as a 40 year old newcomer just sitting there watching the bullshit going on and waiting for someone to "confront" me so I can laugh at them. I think it's a good idea to take it easy on the memory stuff, but once you start, it is like a snowball going down a mountain. The snowball eventually will come to a stop so it's not hopeless. If you have made it this far, you should be OK. Just keep in contact here and anytime you have a situation to talk about, go right ahead. There are a number of sites dedicated to survivors of straight, like the group one at Yahoo. There may be some help there if you go. Lots of stories that refer to now and how the program affected us in all sorts of ways. Most of the people get along most of the time. We have yelling and berating from time to time, but hey, we were trained to be that way by the program so what do people expect?
Good luck.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / new here, from MI Straight
« on: June 26, 2003, 10:27:00 PM »
Hello, welcome to this Forum. I was in Springfield straight in 1983. I can safely say that they had no business doing what they did to kids and young adults like I was. (21)
The real sad part is how many of the people I sat in group with and many others throughout the entire web of straights are gone now from suicide. Another big problem is that the straight treatment model still exists in Michigan (Pathway) and Cincinatti, Indianapolis, Orlando, etc etc...
I hope you find some people you know, there's a few here from MI. Take care.

ISAC Corporation engaged in a rescue mission of a child in Mexico today. ISAC staff flew into San Diego yesterday where they met the mother of the child and Telemundo News. This morning the mother of the child, an ISAC staff and press proceeded to Casa By The Sea to withdraw the child. According to our reports, the child was escorted the day before back to the states by an escort service at the request of the father. According to the mother, the father initially refused to withdraw the child even when he was made aware of allegations of abuse. These allegations came in the form of notarized statements of individuals and parents and sworn affidavits. ISAC then made the following information available to the father last week: "In fact, a parent's failure to remove a child, or a relative's failure to report suspected child abuse or neglect may leave the adult open for criminal prosecution or future civil liability." An attorney provided this information to ISAC. The father has been made aware of the facilities currently under investigation by ISAC. He was also made aware of those programs being "looked into" by the U.S State Department for allegations of abuse. ISAC has forwarded on the abuse reports that we have received (as required by law) to the appropriate state officials. If the child is again placed into ANY facility that is being "looked into" by the U.S. State Department this will result in an immediate and subsequent investigation by ISAC and the results of this investigation will be made public.
The child is in the United States now and no longer in Casa By The Sea.

We (ISAC) wish to personally thank the Telemundo News organization for providing reporters to go with ISAC on this mission. We also would like to thank them for keeping the child's safety as their top priority during the entire planning and execution of this rescue mission. Telemundo News has exhibited the highest of media standards in this effort.

We would like to thank ALL of the media who were made aware of the mission and like Telemundo News, exhibited the highest of media standards and discretion by keeping the safety of the child as their first priority and did not make public any plans that might put the child in jeopardy. This includes but is not limited to Newsday, UPI, London Press and the New York Times.

ISAC believes that all parents have the responsibility to ensure the physical safety and emotional well being of their child. ISAC also believes that all parents have the responsibility to investigate all treatment facilities BEFORE they place a their child in a facility. ISAC suggest checking the credentials of the staff at facilities, the history of the facility, any past complaints of the facility with either state officials or the U.S. State Department if the program is out of country. There are many other things parents can do to ensure their child is not being abused in the name of treatment. Parents may also find it helpful to view our "warning signs" document on our website.

We are relieved that the child is home and safe. However, we are still VERY concerned for the child's well being. We will be keeping a very close eye on the safety of this child.
ISAC will continue in rescue missions as long as there are children whom we believe are in jeopardy. ISAC will continue to protect those children being abused in the name of treatment and will make all attempts to rescue them even if it is one child at a time.

ISAC has issued several other press releases today on the website. Please visit http://www.isaccorp.com and click on "news".

Well, by this time next year, that safe place may not exist anymore. Who knows? It may sound cruel to take a support group away from people who are still using it, but sometimes things like this happen, and in safe's case, it is necessary.

I know that there are some very painful experiences, I have had some myself.  But things aren't the same it has changed and it is still changing.I have been going to the building and attending open meetings for 4 or 5 years, it was just the first time my mom wanted to attend. I respect that you all still harbour anger and resentments, but those are things that happened years ago.  What harm would it be to may be entertain the thought that it is different. Well I guess same goes for me.....I can entertain the fact that some of you can't and won't let it go.  ok.  But I leave this forum with this....you will NEVER rid the world of programs like SAFE, you will not be the reason SAFE closes, it just won't happen.  DOn't you think they have met more agressive people like you and yes some have closed, or have they?  So good luck. "

Oh boy, here we go. Well, All clients of these synanon based, sembler founded, etc etc programs had pain and abuse exacted on them every single day for years in most cases! NOT some, but ALL! How you think safe is so great is beyond my comprehension.

Granted, it has changed, for the worse actually.

Last I heard, there was more staff than clients. Hardly a way to run a program eh? If I and others here and abroad have anything to do with it, safe will close as well as all the abusive centers like it across this earth.

Please don't expect people to get over the treatment they received, please. I have to stop now, I am getting sick again. DAMMIT!!!!!!  ::bangin::  ::puke::

My peace will be found when SAFE and all the other programs like it are CLOSED. Don't think for a minute that I can't have peace otherwise, but with respect to straight and all that, a closed SAFE would be very peaceful to me.
Is that "new guy" Brian? He isn't all that new. Please clarify...

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Changes at Pathway?
« on: June 20, 2003, 11:49:00 PM »
Well, it appears that EMSR is not in the "loop" of this Mrs Row's chain of command. That lady called and spoke to his parents, not him. She nor anyone else there has answered EMSR's emails, letters, etc! Look at the bright side, what difference does it make if she called anyone at all? Fact of the matter is that Pathway does not belong anywhere. Her calling people aint going to help much, in my opinion. "Things" will not change until Pathway is permanently closed    :smokin:

Hi Clay, just want to add a notion here. I remember a couple times after the program when I was served decaf coffee and still got "woke up" so to speak. I don't know if it was my whatever that is brain of mine trying to fool my nerves, or if it was that the coffee actually was waking me up physically. Almost a situation like the time when someone sold some bogus drugs but people still got off on them, LOL... :smokin:
