This makes me really sad. I see this forum as a serious place to discuss something very serious - abuse of kids for a profit.

The hate and anti-gay posts here are inappropriate and off-putting. How can one make an intelligent argument while spewing hatred? I'm trying to do something good here. I hate CEDU. I want to warn parents off. When they see such vituperative posts, they are less likely to take our points seriously.

I am frankly astonished at Son of Serbia's angry post.

No, Cayohueso, I don't know much about Forums. I am an old, yet very busy psychologist and don't have much time for them. This is the only such web site I've visited. So yes, I am ignorant of the policies. I simply was appealing to Ginger, and if you will read my post carefully, you'll see I clearly state that I DON'T know the policies and asking in case she does delete some. I am confident, however, that there are web sites that do censor.

So, please don't attack me, people. I am not the enemy. Ignorance, abuse, and hate are. Believe me, I am on your side. However, I am NOT on the side of hatred nor abusive language, no matter whom it comes from. These hateful posts towards gays concern me. And, by the way, I don't have a gay bone in my body. I am simply a kind and compassionate person. Please try to be one, as well. It won't hurt you.[ This Message was edited by: former CEDU therapist on 2004-08-01 22:28 ]

Ginger, would you please delete the ugly and offensive posts that have started showing up? I don't know the policies, so I'm asking in case you do delete them.
Thanks!

For pete's sake, Hell on Wheels! What is your problem?! I'm not on any jesus trip and I don't know what the hell you're talking about. I'm talking about simply not using an ugly word. It IS as bad as the "n" word. Why do so many people think it's okay to call someone a faggot, but would never use the "n" word?! I'm only asking that people be civil here. I've never attacked you here and I won't. I just don't see the need to use terms that are harmful to people.

They forced me to be nice to fags at CEDU. I say what I want when I want, forced us to accept them. Don't judge me, since you seem to be on a jesus trip. The only thing going up my ass is preparation H and a doctors fingers. Iraqi No-fly Zone, Hell on Wheel's No-Fly Zone, both patrolled by F-15E strike eagles"

"CEDU: Widely Known Psychologist to Head CEDU California

Noted California psychologist George P. Condas, Ph.D. has been appointed executive director of the CEDU Schools in California, which include a high school that is the nation?s original emotional growth boarding school and a middle school established a decade ago. Both are located in Running Springs, California.

"Dr. Condas' experience directing a school that provides therapeutic benefits and his broad clinical background will be tremendous assets to our students, their families and us," said Bob Naples, chief executive officer of CEDU and its corporate parent, The Brown Schools, Inc.

"I appreciate Dr. Bill Valentine?s work as interim CEDU executive director in California as we conducted a search for a permanent leader of these campuses, and I?m especially pleased to have Bill back in the role he prefers ? directing family education and support for all CEDU schools," Naples added.

Condas is a widely known Southern California authority on private schools and behavioral health issues. He has operated and been executive director of Ocean View School in Aliso Viejo, California since 1996 and was clinical director of a 96-bed psychiatric hospital, Capistrano by the Sea Hospital, in Dana Point, California. For 11 years he maintained a placement network to assist parents seeking information about quality schools and programs. With his wife, Helen Condas, LCSW, he has shared a large clinical counseling practice. He is known for published articles and presentations and frequent appearances on radio and television programs addressing behavioral health issues, and he is a member of the American, California and Orange County Psychological Associations.

"The opportunity to be part of two of the best known emotional growth boarding schools in the nation is a welcome challenge," said Condas. "I look forward to building on the success of CEDU?s outstanding schools and expanding our capabilities in California to serve more families challenged by troubled young people."

Emotional growth education goes beyond the basics to address all of a child?s developmental needs ? cognitive, physical and social ? through an integrated curriculum of college preparatory academics, clinical support and outdoor adventure. This allows students to increase their self-awareness and develop decision-making skills that they can apply upon return to their families and home communities.

In addition to overall responsibility for CEDU operations in California and more than 100 faculty and staff members at Running Springs, Condas personally will direct CEDU High School. Long-time CEDU educator Brandi Elliott will continue as director of the middle school. The two schools serve approximately 120 students in the 12- to 17-year age group.

CEDU Schools in California, Idaho and Vermont serve adolescents who are at risk of academic failure because of motivational or behavioral problems or learning disabilities. The schools comprise the private education division of The Brown Schools, Inc., which also provides alternative education services for local governmental entities in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico through its public education division.
