I meant physically. Sometimes it's hard for me to stay interested in these forums where I don't know anyone from my own time in "hell". Especailly with all the politics. I understand , someone has to go after the "evil one's". I don't have a problem with that. I'm just more interested in hearing what happened to all "my" people. You& Cude and a couple others are my only links to the past there, so I'm just trying to keep this thing going.
BTW I took some picctures of the building on AnnArbor Rd. a few months ago while in MI on vacation. Not sure if your interested to see em' or not. It's a body shop now but you can still see the old ghosts....2DOGS

I was in the same shit-hole as you Lady (MI). My folks spent a little over $88,000 for my 17+ months.  One of my newcomers was a 19 year old Black guy from a poor family , who was court ordered to Straight.  The first time he mentioned wanting to pull himself , the executives helped him get out of the court order and then gave him a ride back to Detriot.  Lucky dude to be broke....Dogs

Andy...now I know I know this person but can't see the face, help me out.  Bruce... Not sure. Peter had a sister and they were from Port Huron right? John Devine was one I definitly remember. I went to his house in E. Lansing on a group permission. He lived in a house that was unbelievable on the river and we bombed around on his wave runners and sped out in his Excalibur to check out the family yacht that had three staterooms. He was the richest person I ever met before moving to CA.  Wonder what ever happened to that dude???  ....Joey

You talkin 'bout me bro? I'm always here. Did you think of any more names? I never did find all my "straight stuff" But I'm buying and moving into a house next month and hope to find all that stuff in the move. And when I do , I will post my whole "dime theropy" list. I tried to locate people from that list and got about 10 of each name from a searce and only turned up one bro, Mike Peace. Dude came in the same day as me. Anyway hope all's good...2dogs

I've got a few friendship letters from that dude.  More names: Trombley , Orlando... One of my newc's was named Dave lacy. He was from So. CA. One day I chased the guy for 5 miles until I caught him. Then I told him I just wanted to see if I could catch him and let him go. Lucky bastard got pulled a few weeks later. About 3 years later I'm at a bro's house in Huntington beach CA , passin' "one" around...and who do you think I pass it on to? We hung out a few times , it was trippy....dogs

Nick was half black , half  Vietnamese , from Petoski MI. He drank 5 times before coming to Straight. Poor dude! Any way I've got an old "dime theropy" list from when I was on fifth and everyone on it was way newer than me. I'll dig it out and post all the names on it. See if it rings any bells.  Have you kept in touch with anyone from your time there?  John Hynes was there with you. He posts sometimes at the alumni site. Gotta roll...I'll post names later.....dogs

I felt the same way.  At first I was totally excited to find old friends. People from your program are like no one else in the entire world.  But I've been one these sites for a little over a year and have only run into a couple people I hardly knew. It's pretty disappointing, but I will keep waiting , eventually everyone from Straight who owns a computer will get board enough to look up Straight one day.
Also there alot of shit that you had to learn to live with these last 15 years that may  resurface and piss you off. Have fun. I try to avoid the politcal part of these sites. Mostly because I don't have enough anger or concern to deal with the irritation but others seem to have enough to go around so I don't feel guilt not doing my part. (lol)  I ran from MI. about 7 months into my 1 year after-care. I got freaked-out. I thought I was going to get sat in group. I've been I CA ever since. I was visiting my folks last week and I drove down AnnArbor Rd. and took a few picks of the building. I'll post em' on Don's site later. I was thinking that if you could put a sign in front of the old building with one of these web site addresses on it we would probable find a lot more old friends. I wonder if the body shop there would consider it if they knew the whole deal.
  Anyway , remember anymore names?...dogs

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / who is still sober
« on: July 29, 2002, 01:31:00 AM »
Besides 4 surgerys I haven't  been high or drank in 10 years. no A.A. no Straight. Just do better without.  But I did need to be very , very , loaded for a number of years to get Straight out of my head! I don't care who gets tore-up or who doesn't. That was a judgement I learned at Straight and I live by that about as much as I live by the rest of the shit they told me. I personaly think sugar and cigarettes are worse than the rest......Dogs
