Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / UP WITH PEOPLE........
« on: September 04, 2002, 11:17:00 AM »
Does anyone from the St. Pete program remember when UP WITH PEOPLE came to sing and dance for us?   I remember that it was a good break from the mind rape that we went thru on a daily basis.   I remember Wanda Minton telling us how "FOS" they were cause the kids were "playing games" and flirting w/each other before they came out to sing.  Wanda could find fault in any and everything.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Names of Directors
« on: August 26, 2002, 04:11:00 PM »
Ian MacDonald - clearwater peditrician (was mine for my entire childhood).  He was the medical director of straight and now has an employee assistance company operated out of DC area.

John Legge - staff in the late '70's.  btw- there is a John Legge running for county commission in Citrus County Florida (I think it is Citrus, may be Dixie)

George Ross was the original Pychologist that "worked" on us kids.

I will reply back later after I see the list again........

is that the yahoo alumni board?   If so, I would think that the vast majority of folks on that board think that straight was a crock o' shit (sorry Dave)(haha) - I think most folks  that were actually there will realize one day that it all was a crock too....

dream.  We can haunt them till the day they die.  We need to find out what "boards" they are on (ie Bettybitch Sembler is on the holocaust museum in St. Pete) and get them thrown off.  We have already spoken to the Public Relations officer at the museum and are working at getting them kicked off.  If they refuse, then it's protest time.  Even the jews aren't immune from the child abuse stigma.

it is a pipe dream if we want to go after Sembler - he is too powerful adn too much of an asshole.  Now the state of Florida is another matter - we can get those fuckers.   We already have dcf worried.   I am working on getting an attorney; I have manhy powerful lawyer friends that are looking for civil righs attorneys to represent us against the state.   Hang in there, we may get our day in court yet.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Straight medical neglect stories???
« on: July 29, 2002, 10:00:00 PM »
Nothing really major happened to me as far as not having proper medical treatment, 'cept one time on 1st phase, I had a fever for some reason and I was told by the kid handing out meds that " . . . when your fever goes over 102, let me know and I'll give you some asprin."   Lucky for me, my foster mom was a nurse and gave me some when I got to my oldcomers house. I remember her mumbling something about stupid program rules.

Oh yeah, I forgot about this . . . in the summer of '79 many of the guys (and I assume girls too) had jock itch really bad.  In St Pete the AC was never turned on so we were always soaking wet w/sweat; never drying off during the long summer days.   Anyway, I had BAD jock itch from just below my belly button to just above my knees.  I saw people that had far worse, covering up much of their stomach.  It was horrible.   I remember skin peeling off in big red smelly strips when I would scratch myself.   My mom got us all medication and corn startch, but when you are wet for 12 - 14 hours per day it doesn't really help that much.   I finally got over it when the weather turned cool in December. And that is all I got to say about that.

I have my own copy.  Wife ordered it.  The movie sucks big time.  The story is FOS and the acting is terrible.  I never was able to watch more than 5 minutes bits and pieces of the movie.

My first day was Dec 26, 1978.  Don't know if you remember me . . .  You never gave me a hard time, although I don't think you were on staff for too much longer after I got in the program. Good to hear from you.  Hope you are doing well.  take care

hanging out that weed-end w/you Bob and Chris and Eddie.  Was like old times, 'cept we weren't locked up or belt-looped.   Beer was nice as well!  It has been such a long time, almost 24 years . . . that is amazing.   I can still remember, feel, see, and taste being on the front row, day 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, . . .   That is strange; my life at straight and the immediate years after have to classified as a freakin trip.   Glad to see you again 85 day jerk after all these years.
