Peninsula Village / PV Documents Released Here!

Until we get a better place for documents to go (pvexposed), this thread can serve as a place for people to post PV-related documents to.

Peninsula Village / Re: PV Protest in Raleigh NC 11/22/08
« on: November 22, 2008, 04:37:23 PM »
Zen and I began our protest as planned today, and despite the cold weather and wind we stayed put the whole time. The PV crew didn't have quite as big of a turnout, and everyone seemed to be a bit late in arriving. One couple parked and came over to us and asked what we were protesting. We explained a few things but when one of us mentioned something about PV overmedicating patients they interrupted with sarcastic comments like "are either of you doctors?" "how long ago were you at PV?" "was Doctor Raman your psychiatrist?" we then realized they were actually PV parents/grandparents, and I started filming. Later we had an employee from the hotel across the street come over to us said he remembered me from the last time and wanted to know about our protest. We also had a person in a pickup stop to inquire about our signs, who thought we were protesting a cheating wife. About this time the parents meeting was coming to an end. The older couple from earlier emerged from the hotel and the female decided to do a little catwalk strut and bow for us on her way back to their car. Then a parent in a pickup really squealed his tires in his haste to exit the parking lot, whether this was because he didn't want us to get his plate number or because he just endured a three hour long brainwashing session I don't know. Robert "Bob" Pegler then left with a female passenger, both again ignoring us and avoiding eye contact.

Here's the video:

(sorry for the shakiness.. I was shivering from a combo of cold and nervousness, and when you're shooting video at full 10x zoom the littlest movement has a big effect.

Stumbled across a couple interesting websites while on a "Google-ing" streak.
They're both the same thing, but someone felt strongly enough to post their story on two blogspot accounts:
http://http://troubledteenhelpteen.blogspot.com/
http://http://teenparents.blogspot.com/
I would c+p the text here, but it's a bit long.

Peninsula Village / Re: PV & Jones Bend Blount County Park

The boat launches closest to PV that I could find are here and here. There is also this boat ramp right on the peninsula, but I suspect it's privately owned although it looks to be open to the public.

First of all, Google Maps now has PV and all of Jones Bend Road available in Street View: HERE!

But this is the reason I've posted in this particular thread... I've solved the "Peninsula Village or Blount County Park?" issue!

Unfortunately my conclusion will be disappointing to anyone who was hoping they'd found a whole peninsula open for camping, because PV is actually not a public park.

HOWEVER there are 22 acres on the peninsula that are publicly owned by the Tennessee Valley Authority, and that land backs right up to the girls cabins! If you want to access it you'll need a boat, or walk along the shoreline easement from Wrights Ferry Road.

Here is the 22 acre parcel of land on the TNMap property tax records website, click on the "IDENTIFY" tab and choose the large centered parcel (#001_004.00)
This information is also available here.
Also, if you look at the topographic map here, you can see the same area outlined. There might even be a purple arrow from the words "Jones Bend Blount County Park" to the area, but it blends in so well I didn't notice it before.

I have sent a request to the TVA for more information, and I'll keep you all updated!

To anyone wondering what PV and Country Inn & Suites said to the police during their phone conversation:

You gave me a real good idea.  I should call the redlands five-oh and ask for their tapes.

BTW: anything visible from teh public eye is fair game to photograph or videotape.  You did nothign illegal.  It's absurd they would waste valuable police resources on that crap.
You can actually get almost any government documents by using FOIA requests (911 phone calls, dashcam video, paper reports, etc.) like I did. Unfortunately the police car that showed up for me didn't have a camera running at the time, but at least I was able to get the 911 tapes and these reports:
Doc.1
Doc.2

Wow.  Didn't know you could get such stuff through FOIA.  There is a call made to Blount Co. Sheriff's Dep't  I'd like to get a copy of.  What do you ask for?  Could you ask for a record of calls made about PV to the local Fifes?
I'll PM you about the details, but I can probably get it for you.

There was actually a bit about this in the latest Village Vision:
Quote
Bob Pegler, CAS, Program Director, will present at the fall 2008 Independent Educational Consultants Association conference in Baltimore, MD, in November. The title of the presentation is Motivational Interviewing: Moving Beyond the Myth of Treatment Resistant Adolescents.
Can't be able to make it to the protest, but I wish everyone good luck and am looking forward to seeing good reports back!

Peninsula Village / (11-22-08) Protesting PV Again! -Raleigh,NC-
« on: October 29, 2008, 08:45:08 PM »
The first PV protest on September 27 went very well, and this one should be even better- there will be a few more attending this time, and Che was kind enough to send me a better camera to document everything.
This upcoming protest on November 22nd will again be in front of the RDU Country Inn & Suites at 201 Airgate Dr Morrisville NC 27560 from 8:30am to 12:30pm while PV has their parent's meeting inside.
Parking is available right nextdoor at the I-40 Park & Fly lot for $7.00, let them know you won't need a shuttle.
Bring your own signs, but they should be no larger than 24in x 24in or have metal supports/handles.
Feel free to PM /email me with any questions, or just discuss here.

My daughter was at New Haven and this place saved her life and our relationship. She would tell you the same thing. She loves the people there. All of the staff and therapists are decent, compassionate, skilled people. If your daughter needs this kind of help, do not hesitate to bring her to New Haven...or go yourself and take a look. Please do not confuse New Haven with dangerous facilities you may have heard of.
All RTC's in Utah are not the same and New Haven is a much needed resource for young girls and families that desperately need help.
If you don't agree with the statements made, why drag this "innocent" program through the mud again by bumping up a thread from 2005? I can't talk specifics in regards to New Haven, but just because you and your daughter don't think it's a bad place doesn't mean it isn't. Maybe you're just brainwashed. BTW Che is right - even if New Haven isn't as bad as some "other" Utah programs, that state still lacks necessary oversight.

Hey peeps...
I was just wondering when the PV  physical protest is going to take place because I would like to attend in support of the survivors.

Sent you a PM..

Fantastic news, glad to hear it!
This hopefully should dissuade other programs from trying the same type of thing to silence their critics.
AND maybe now we'll finally be allowed to see the benchmark protest video, I've been waiting in suspense since the teaser trailer was released almost a year ago! LOL

I think Peninsula Village definitely deserves to be on that list, of course I am a bit biased... but if you're factoring size into this I could see why PV isn't included.
