The Seed Discussion Forum / Cult weirdness and speculation abounds

Ever here of Narconon?

That IS the church of scientology and has been embroiled in controversy for years.

http://www.narconon.org/

The Narconon program has from the beginning been founded on key principles developed by author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard. The keynote is that an individual is responsible for his own condition and that anyone can improve his condition if he is given a workable way to do so. It is based on improved understanding of his fundamental nature: that man is basically good and it is pain, suffering, and loss that lead him astray.

In the early '60s, Mr. Hubbard was one of the first to see the long-term consequences of the accelerating drug culture. He responded warmly to William Benitez's request for help with his fledgling Narconon program in Arizona State Prison and continued to write up his observations on the effects of drugs on the individual person, his body, and the society as a whole.

That was a long time ago.  7 or 8 of us did a group chat with a former early straight board member.  What was learned was that the person didn't know much about the techniques being used, didn't understand anything other than the seed "worked" and the seed was gone, and that pinellas needed something to replace it.

This board member also resigned within 10 months because, while Sembler didn't start the straight, he was taking over with his personality, and seed like abuses were taking place in spite of the promise that the straight would "Take the good and not the bad" from the seed.

There is more but nothing shocking was learned other than the personal feelings of the former board member.

KHK Staffer: We can help.  We have a 90 percent sucess rate!

PKP:  Sounds GREAT.  I want you to kidnap him immediately.

KHK:  Luv to!  We need payment tho. Got Insurance?

PKP: Er, no.  My job terminated our benefits.  How much this gonna cost me?

KHK: We have a 'tuition expense' of $65,000.

PKP: GODDAMN, I can't afford THAT.....How much to just blacken one eye, break a rib, starve him a little  and make him cry?

How about it?  I don't suppose I can judge your situation very good from where I sit.

However, I do have a question?  PCP addict?  I do remember PCP back in the day, and I don't remember it as being an addictive substance.  Certainly dangerous in the forms it was sold back then, but addictive?

So these are my questions.  How old were you when you kicked the addiction?  How long did you use this substance before coming addicted?  At what age did you start? How many times a day did you take this substance?   What was the cost of the substance on a daily basis, and how did you get the money? Where did you physically withdraw?  What were the withdrawal symptoms?  What delivery method did you use to injest the substance?

The alternative of course, is that you are misusing the word addiction.

I hope that in the interim, between 12 and now, you have had some happy times where you were free of the negative aspects of theseed.  The Seed program(ming) really can mess up a persons psyche.  And personally, I think the effects are even worse for kids who were essentially trouble-free to begin with.

.

I agree Stripe, but I would go even a step further.  People who were 'trouble' also didn't need the extreme treatment they received at the seed.

I know I was anything but an angel.  Hell, I still got a little hellion in me.  However, I spent years trying to shed the baggage the seed attached to my ego.

Maybe if I was a junkie selling my body for my next fix, I could justify some similar life changing event like the seed.  Maybe.  However, my situation simply didn't warrant being locked up in a behavior modification camp, especially one with the extreme techniques and cultic ideology  like the seed.

Ken Sykes would have been older than most in the Straight.  I know his sisters also went into the straight, and his brother and sister were in the seed circa 1973  One of his sisters has posted here before.

Ken died in a car accident...at least the one that was in the seed.

Was he also in Straight later?  I don't know.

Kenny Sykes was in the seed, not the straight.

Yep 'not12',  if you had actually prayed or meditated during the newcomer stage, you would likely have been stood up and screamed at by your 'peers'.

As far as being into trouble for 'getting into your head', how orwellian is that?  Your not allowed to have any thought that doesn't comport with what they think you are supposed to think, your not allowed to let your mind drift off, daydream...nothing.  Just pay attention, comform your thoughts, act exactly as everyone else  and be a good little seedling.

...Or pay the consequences...
