Title: Aspen Ed Programs on the Ropes in Oregon
Post by: Troll Control on November 04, 2009, 12:02:24 PM
Finally, a state government is taking on the phony healthcare provider Aspen Education Group.

The state of Oregon recently investigated Aspen's Mount Bachelor Academy for child abuse and neglect.  They found no less than nine (9) substantiated cases of abuse including, but not limited to forced labor, deprivation of shelter and isolation, sexualized role play requiring rape victims to re-enact their rapes and to perform simulated oral sex on minor boys in a group setting, failure to provide treatment plans, failure to provide therapy, failure to employ duly licensed mental healthcare providers, and the list goes on.  In short, all of the things we have been alleging for many years here have been proven to be true via the state's investigation.

The state of Oregon DHS has concluded that the very model (upon which all Aspen programs are structured) of the program is inherently, intentionally, sytematically and willfully abusive to children and that adults at the facility failed to protect the children being abused.  It found that ALL children at Aspen's facility were systematically abused.  The abuse was so prevalent and obvious that the state took the almost unprecedented step of citing the program director personally for child abuse.

Aspen runs four programs in Oregon, Mount Bachelor Academy, SageWalk, New leaf Academy and NorthStar Treatment Center.  Each of these facilities has been accused of child abuse and neglect.  Mount Bachelor Academy was forcibly shut down today for child abuse, Sagewalk is under criminal investigation for the negligent homicide of a child in its care, NorthStar recently settled a lawsuit where Aspen's lawyer argued in court that Aspen does not and never has provided any treatment or therapy of any kind and New Leaf has been under constant scrutiny for many years over charges of child abuse and neglect.

Four out of four Aspen programs in Oregon have had serious charges of abuse and neglect leveled against them and more investigations and possible closures are on the near horizon.

The common thread linking these four abusive and neglectful Oregon facilities is that they are all owned and operated by Aspen Education Group.  Aspen runs dozens of other facilities in several states and each and every one of them has been accused of abusing children in their care.  Hopefully other states will follow Oregon's lead and vigorously investigate these abusive Aspen facilities and hold the perpetrators of child abuse to account for their actions.

It's a big first step to see Oregon go after Aspen's program model which is the foundation of each of their programs and prove the very practices Aspen considers standard to violate child abuse laws.

Keep up the good work, everyone. Aspen is on the ropes in Oregon and we all need to make sure it gets exposed to the regulatory microscope wherever it operates.

Aspen has a pretty bad reputation.  They also have a very bad track record in Oregon specifically I see.  Half of their facilities were shuttered by state authorities for child abuse and even child homicide.  50% of Aspen-owned facilities have been forcibly closed for business by state child-abuse watchdogs and the county sheriff's office.  100% have been repeatedly accused of child abuse, fraud or other legal violations.  I hope the remaining facilities are investigated thoroughly as well.

It is well known that Aspen uses this same program structure at all of their facilities, so it's only logical to conclude that if your child is at an Aspen facility, the things found in 50% of its Oregon facilities so far is probably happening or has happened already to you your little boy or girl.  This is extremely disconcerting news.

Yep. Let's see how well they perform on their own ropes course ... when their butt is the one jingling on the line!  :D

They'll have to endure some Behavior Modification, state style. Ain't it grand when shoe's on the other foot.
What will the consequence be for not reporting abuse?
Will they adopt a new treatment modality within 90 days, or shut down and move to another state?
Any beats on the outcome?
Who will Aspen move in to replace Bitz for damage control?
May be they'll throw Behren's "study" out as proof of efficacy. Will the state buy it?
Will we see a class action?

To me, it looks like they are in big, big trouble, both legally and financially.  It appears the "W" and the "T" are the most prominent characters in Aspen's 2009-2010 SWOT analysis.  It's about time authoritues started to exercise proper oversight of these private, extra-legal child detention facilities.  I hope there are criminal convictions and civil suits coming very soon.

Please look at item #23.  We now know that a little girl was RAPED AT MBA and that MBA staff failed to report this RAPE OF A MINOR FEMALE IN THEIR CUSTODY to any authorities.

It's bad enough Aspen keeps these kids against their will, censors or prohibits communication with family, etc.  But now we have proof that these children are being RPAED ON CAMPUS and NOTHING is being reported to authorities.  I wonder if this was a STAFF MEMBER who RAPED this UNDERAGE GIRL???

All other oversight agencies which have authority over Aspen programs in their states should immediately force them to suspend operations pending investigation.  These crimes have happened repeatedly and over many years on Aspen campuses and the authorities need to put a stop to the RAPE, MURDER, ABUSE and NEGLECT of our children being held at Aspen programs.  The abuse is pervasive and systematic.
